Hi, I'd like to suggest a removal of the zelda map. I was originally going to "rework" the map to make it a bit more "hale-friendly" and optimize it but I gave up on that idea.

Why should the map get removed?

  • Obviously, it's size. It's way too big for a VSH map, and rounds sometimes take forever.
  • Map is way too open, it's basically a sniper heaven.
  • Optimization issues, custom texture issues. Almost all of the map's textures are in DXT1 format, which causes most textures to appear black for linux users, for instance. Underwater texture is also sometimes missing which can be pretty frustrating.
  • Map is made of massive prop_statics instead of displacements which makes it incredibly hard to edit in any way.
 
Looks like this has been suggested multiples times in the past ( and marked for completion and never done). Hopefully when it is, it'll actually be gone for good. Added to task #249 VSH / FF2 - Add / Remove maps.
