Krookadile mentioned his new years resolution being to clean up the map pool. Although from what it looks like we'll still be keeping Crossroads, another map I've come to suggest we give the boot for a little pre-spring cleanup is Lunapark.

Now, I'll be honest, I did KIND OF like this map initially, but looking at it now, it's really just a diet version of Carnival. Most of what Lunapark does, Carnival generally does better:
- Minigames: Let's be completely honest, Carnival just has a way better selection of minigames than Lunapark does. Lunapark isn't exactly light on minigames but most of them are just the basic stuff like Nine Square, Crush Game, Obby. The only completely unique minigame Lunapark has is Jojo (a VS Saxton Hale type minigame) and that's restricted to LR only, and between that and people not even remembering it exists, is pretty much never played. All the minigames that Lunapark and Carnival share, Carnival simply does better; Carnival's Obby is more visually and structurally appealing, Mirror Maze is a way better version of Quantum Maze, the Deathrun is better, the Football is better (because, you know, the ball on Carnival actually kills, unlike on Lunapark), you get the idea.
- Visuals: I'll admit the visuals are kinda cool, but again, it's something Carnival just does better.
- Secrets: Carnival's Krusty secret is a better version of Lunapark's Satanic secret. Lunapark's Satanic secret gives a big benefit (1000+ HP and ammo) but requires a sacrifice from another RED, meaning two REDs have to coordinate so one can get the secret; Carnival doesn't require a sacrifice, and it's just more fun to stealthily go around the map collecting tickets to become Krusty the Clown than going into a dark sewer to find a bunch of rooms where BLUs may not even try to go half the time.

All in all, why play Lunapark when we have Carnival, which is Lunapark but better in almost every aspect?

In regards to secrets you did mention the sacrafice secret but there's also the half life secret which I believe functions much more similarly to the krusty secret. Although I hardly play the map so I can't say for certain. I personally really enioy the map for it's minigames and secrets. At the end of the day there are far worse maps in rotation and I would rather this map stays.

Lunapark is honestly an okay map.
albeit a bit small, it is a fun and well designed map.
i must say though, the secret hallways underground are very confusing (although i never have attempted it myself before)

now to compare Carnival to this map isn't really fair since Carnival is way bigger and is generally pretty well designed as is.

my vote is honestly a neutral as most of the times I played on Lunapark i genuinely enjoyed.
ill wait to see what other people think.

I just dislike the sewer portion that is literally it, block it off and I'd vote for the map more. Otherwise i'm indifferent to it's existance

after seeing more replies my vote goes to a NO, don't remove.

this map has horrid minigames and has only 2 or 3 reliable ammo secrets
this map is very easy to run away on tho, which is fun, but what isnt fun? doing 5 minigames in total and on repeat when on this map
i think if we are going to remove it, we would need another map (to introduce more variety, of course)
fuck this map!!!

I think the standard for removing a map needs to be higher before making a suggestion like this. There needs to be serious problems with a map that justifies removal. Lunapark maybe isn’t most people’s favorite, but it doesn’t kill the player count whenever we play it. Furthermore it’s not fundamentally broken in any way that would justify removal, and it has plenty of unique aspects that other players have already mentioned.

I disagree with the idea of cleaning the map pool. In a game mode like jailbreak where the fun comes from playing different minigames, variety is extremely important. It’s a good thing that we have a lot of decent maps even if every map isn’t top tier so people can shake things up a bit and keep the mode interesting by occasionally voting for niche maps. Wanting to remove a map just because another similar map is better in many respects is a bad policy which would only make jailbreak boring by removing the variety.

I like other players also want you to limit how many of these suggestions you make and put more thought into them. I think as things are now the map pool is actually in a very good spot. We have a ton of unique maps but no maps that are actually broken or universally considered terrible to the point that they kill the server in my eyes. If there are any of those maps left, make suggestions but only if it seems obvious the majority of players would agree removal is justified.

This map is, eh. Its not a complete dumpster fire like crossroads, its not the best map on the server either. It's good to have some meh maps in rotation. If every map is the best map, none of them are.

Yeah that aint happening. This map pools weakest points was crossroads and sometimes lunapark depending on who you asked, and neither are passing, can't imagine any other map will except for ONE map in particular thats too new to current rotation after an extended vacation

Crossroads is still definitely possible. Although I believe people would probably be amicable to map removals once we get some new maps. Namely area 17 and semis 72 hour jam map that has yet to officially drop. The more we add good maps to thd map pool the faster we can weed out the bad.

Honestly?
No.

So long as a map isn't completely busted or completely drops the player count by over 10 consistently, which neither luna or crossroads seem to do, then I see absolutely zero need to remove a map. You can say RTV fodder and nothingburger and all kinds of buzzwords to try an get a point across, but at the end of the day crossroads is probably the worst map in rotation from a gameplay stance and even that runs laps around our fallen comrades in maps such as instacity and aztec. If you weren't so adamant about dropping several maps in the name of "2025 cleaning" maybe I would be less against the removal of both maps, but you have been a full admin for 1 week and are trying to do something so massive while just barely consulting anyone about it. If you want a map removed then suggest it under the pretense that it must go because of X, Y, and Z, not because we need to clean the map pool up. Because quite frankly, we do not need to clean anything. We barely have 31 maps in rotation and while that sounds like a lot, if you and a few others had their way about map removals we would cut that number down to 25, and thats only if Area 17 and spacestation are both added.

You can try to list a bunch of reasons why a map is poorly designed or not though out or whatever, but so long as people are having fun on the map, then none of that will matter.
I mean Chretien is a horrible map! Its 4 hallways and a courtyard with a 2 second escape secret with any amount of coordination. But because at the time it was all we had, it was a blast to play on.
It only got removed once newer maps came along and it was no longer a fun map to play on. That simply hasn't happened to another map in a long time. Whether it be due to minigames, rebelling potential, or the map design being great, every map in rotation except for two (imo) does this really well. But I am in the minority on both maps. I'm not going to complain about other peoples fun because then I just look like a massive prick. We all have the maps we don't like, but the game is objectively more fun if you don't have someone gauging interest in maps or going on about how horrible a map is. (hence why I stopped doing the second thing unless asked lol).

JB as a game itself runs like this. Our rules have dozens of holes in them that you kind of have to dance around and find where the line is yourself.
Is that a bad thing? Absolutely not! Silly outside the box thinking that bends the rule book is what the game is partially built on. Stuff such as warday and such wouldnt be around.

Coming from a point in panda where we had a low amount of maps, removing maps because people dont play on them is a horrendous idea. JB is the last mini game that needs a map cleanup. There isn't enough out there.

Seeing as this is a very large percentage of No votes I will end this poll prematurely as it's clear people want this map to stay. Thanks to all who voted and I'm glad you guys enjoy this map.
