Krookadile mentioned his new years resolution being to clean up the map pool. Although from what it looks like we'll still be keeping Crossroads, another map I've come to suggest we give the boot for a little pre-spring cleanup is Lunapark.
Now, I'll be honest, I did KIND OF like this map initially, but looking at it now, it's really just a diet version of Carnival. Most of what Lunapark does, Carnival generally does better:
- Minigames: Let's be completely honest, Carnival just has a way better selection of minigames than Lunapark does. Lunapark isn't exactly light on minigames but most of them are just the basic stuff like Nine Square, Crush Game, Obby. The only completely unique minigame Lunapark has is Jojo (a VS Saxton Hale type minigame) and that's restricted to LR only, and between that and people not even remembering it exists, is pretty much never played. All the minigames that Lunapark and Carnival share, Carnival simply does better; Carnival's Obby is more visually and structurally appealing, Mirror Maze is a way better version of Quantum Maze, the Deathrun is better, the Football is better (because, you know, the ball on Carnival actually kills, unlike on Lunapark), you get the idea.
- Visuals: I'll admit the visuals are kinda cool, but again, it's something Carnival just does better.
- Secrets: Carnival's Krusty secret is a better version of Lunapark's Satanic secret. Lunapark's Satanic secret gives a big benefit (1000+ HP and ammo) but requires a sacrifice from another RED, meaning two REDs have to coordinate so one can get the secret; Carnival doesn't require a sacrifice, and it's just more fun to stealthily go around the map collecting tickets to become Krusty the Clown than going into a dark sewer to find a bunch of rooms where BLUs may not even try to go half the time.
All in all, why play Lunapark when we have Carnival, which is Lunapark but better in almost every aspect?
