The time has come to remove jb_bootcamp_v6. Usually I am one of the biggest defender of bad maps but bootcamp is just not fun to play on at all. I've also noticed that when the map switches to bootcamp people tend to leave the server.

The problems the map has:

- The map is way too big, it takes forever to get anywhere and bootcamp doesn't have enough minigames or things to do to justify it's size. The map is also way too open, which makes it very easy for reds to slip away. I've seen blus chase rebellers for several minutes because of how big the map is.

- This map is sniper heaven because of the huge sightlines, just look at the image below, you can shoot someone at climb all the way from disco. You can also snipe from all the way inside of the tower in D-Day and that's annoying.

- The selection of minigames isn't great, sure you got the basics but nothing really stands out besides D-Day (which is more annoying than fun if you ask me). This leads to most wardens just picking obby, climb and deathrun as the only minigames that are being played. The way some minigames are presented cause confusion, most often seen in quickdraw.

- Outside of armory there are only two ammo spots which are both in the same corner of the map. Sure this might stop rebellers but I find it mostly causes would-be rebellers to wander around aimlessly looking for ammo

Sure some other maps might have the same problems as bootcamp, but bootcamp does it in such a way that really gets on my nerves.

Yeah, this map is ass. Only interesting minigame is ghost hunt, which either just doesn't work or nobody actually knows how it works because it's just very confusing.
With such an expansive map pool we need to make sure all maps are enjoyable to play on. Quality control is something we need to be directly working on. Whether that be with the many new maps that seem to be coming about these days, or the ones we already have in our rotation. If we start to be more picky with what maps we add we need to be equally picky with the ones we currently have.

This map has a lot of problems and I wouldn't miss it if it were removed from our map pool.

This is one of the maps I won't miss if it got removed either. It's just way to big and expansive. And as the post says it's a server killer. It's easy to make bad maps fun but this isn't one of them. DR, Obby, Climb and Stairway to Heaven are the only games I've seen being played on this map regularly with the occasional sweeper and trivia. It's just not worth keeping it in the map rotation if it means it's just going to get nominated at the first round of every match along with the other bad maps in rotation (Minecraft Nightfall, Casuarina, Crossroads, Albany, etc) for the funny. It's just bloat for the sake of bloat.

At this point the more we remove maps constantly for the sake of it. The less more maps will be played. Honestly I don't see a point removing bootcamp when it's played a few times in a blue moon, and has some minigames i do enjoy. There's a lot of maps I'd take bootcamp over, and are in rotation so I'd like to see bootcamp stay. I don't think we have too many maps atm, when like 5 get played only.

We haven't had a single map removal in the big 2025. The point of removing bad maps is tightening our rotation so underplayed GOOD maps can take their spot and get some love. RTV fodder like this map kills playercounts and actively hinders other maps.
Ridiculous to see the same arguments pop up whenever an unpopular map gets suggested to be removed, finding excuses to larp in a world where people will actually miss it.
