Hello everyone.

Here i've made a breakdown of how all classes function and hopefully this will result in some better prisoners/reds in the future

(As a slight disclaimer) even though all these statements are partially objective and subjective, it does not mean that they are true all of the time. (Player skill, luck.)

All classes will be listed at best to worst

Team Red

Medic

Medic overall is the best class to play on team Red, for several reasons. For starters, the Medic can heal overtime naturally when he is outside of combat. This is especially good in Hunger Games where most other classes will not have the ability to heal themselves or usually go inside of medic room. Also since friendly fire messes up the hitboxes for weapons, it becomes harder to land hits. Medic however has the easiest and largest hitbox out of all classes who can use their melees. Next to this, the Medic has the second fastest class in the game, making him good at escapes and chasedowns. And finally, The medigun. Being one of the best tools in jailbreak it is useful in several scenarios, The most mentionable being the Uber Charge. Stock and kritzkrieg being the most viable, Each can easily be used to take down 1-2 blues with another fellow red team member to throw it on. I will say it's better to use stock when there is several Blue team members and in larger open areas so that you don't get picked off so quickly.

+ Regenerating health is guuuuud

+ Second fastest class

+ Great class for rebelling

+ Ability to heal others

+ Easiest friendly fire hitbox

- Can be bound to Medigun without healing

Pyro

The Pyro class is a jack of all trades. Having nice health and speed, the Pyro also has a large and useful melee weapon collection. A weapon like the Sharpened Volcano Fragment Will suddenly become a useful weapon. The Backscratcher is another great weapon as the crits will 1 shot all classes except heavy, and my personal favorite the Powerjack which grants the pyro extra move speed and gives health back on every kill. Ammo on the pyro is also very useful, the Backburner can be good for killing unsuspecting blues while hiding. Other primary weps/secondary is really personal preference from there.

+ Well-rounded stats

+ good pool of melee weapons

+ No real weaknesses

- Doesn’t have anything that makes him stand out

Scout

What makes the Scout so great on team Red is ability to do almost everything. Being the fastest TF2 class, the scout can pick the right moments to escape quickly from team Blue as well as have a better and faster time doing most mini games. The scouts melee weapons on Red team can all be useful depending on how you would like to approach the round. If you are looking to kill someone on Blue team easier, the Sandman and Boston basher can be useful for quick rundown in-your-face style action. If you are looking to try and escape easier, the atomizer grants you a double jump which can help you maneuver the map better and can also be useful in certain mini games. The scouts primary weapon is also very good, particularly the Scattergun and Force-A-Nature which if positioned well enough can take down someone on Blue team in 2-3 shots. However unlike the Medic class, the scout can be a much easier target in Hunger Games or any FF related minigame. His low hp and fairly ineffective melee attacks can cause the Scout to be useless, most classes can take him down with 2 melee attacks.

+ Fastest class

+ Excellent class for rebelling

+ Large useful weapon pool

- Low health

- Easy target in FF minigames

Soldier

Being the second slowest class in the game, the Soldier can struggle in some mini games and the ability to run away from Blue team. Most of his melee weapons are bad, but the saving grace for the Soldier and what makes ranked so high is the Disciplinary Action which is one of the best weapons on Red team. It can be used to boost your own speed by 40% and most other classes by about 33%, making it a very good tool for catching people on Blue team and doing mini games. It additionally has a longer melee range than the eyelander. Beyond this, the Soldier also has the second highest health pool, and this can be boosted to 220 with the Battalion’s Backup or have your health regenerate with the Concheror. The Soldier is very dependent on having these specific weapons to make him a good choice for Red team.

+ High health pool

+ Very good starting melee and secondarys

+ Really useful class for helping teammates

- Not having the right weapons makes him one of the worst

Spy

If you are looking to kill a specific player on team Blue, this may be the best class for it. A good spy may just end your job as warden, and the round. While most wardens will restrict the spy's knife from being out, they most likely won't care. A spy can quickly take out his knife while you aren't paying attention and kill you instantly, making him one of the best classes to rebel with. Beyond this however, the spy falls flat. The spy does mini games for the most part fine, but he still is a very easy target. Like the scout, spy has it even worse when it comes to FF mini games. The spy can't backstab his teammates thus making his attacks feel like getting hit by a wet tissue, and his low hp pool doesnt help him either.

+ Great class for rebelling

+ Instakill with backstabs

- Very easy target in FF mini games

- Low health

Demoman

I should say Demoknight, because the most viable option if you do go this class is getting a shield and Booties or the Bootlegger to give you extra move speed and health. Demoman melee weapons can depend on the situation. If you are looking to rebel, the ullapool Caber can still 1 shot most 125 classes for some reason. The Eyelander is another good option with its high melee range. If you aren't confident you will get enough kills, the Scotsman’s Skullcutter is another good option that doesn't take health away from you and also deals more damage and can 1 shot every class except heavy. Overall however, not having these specific weapons can make this class one of the worst, and even with these weapons demoman doesn't really stick out much.

+ Does not need ammo

+ With the right items, can be great in FF minigames

- Requires the right weapons

- Charging doesn't work

Heavy

If we could rewind back to 2015, the heavy would actually be close to the top of this list. But because of the Heavy melee nerfs he simply falls flat. The best melee weapons for Heavy are the ones that use the "Pootis Pow" taunt. The taunt able to gun down an enemy in one hit from far away. When a warden is busy, this taunt could very well end him. Heavy is very fat though, making him extremely big and slow. Meaning he is easy for Blu's to hit. Heavy will also be the weakest link when it comes to any minigame involving speed.

+ Large Health pool

+ Can taunt kill effectively

- Can struggle at minigames

- Slow and easy target

- Can't really escape Blues

Engineer

Engineer also used to be one of the best classes. But that was before the Gunslinger crit glitch got patched. Since Engineer's usual playstyle revolves around building Sentries, Dispensers and Teleporters it's hard to play as Engineer on team Red. Most of his weapons don't really help him in battle, hence why sticking to the stock Wrench is probably a good idea. Unless you want extra health in favour of crits, in that case the Gunslinger is also a good choice. Engineer really doesn't stand out at all, his stats are all ordinary at best and so are his weapons. The only thing that makes Engineer special is the fact that he can teleport to his spawn location using the Eureka Effect. Too bad this weapon makes the sound of an exploding box of fireworks, resulting in the whole Blue team chasing you down right away.

+ Teleporting is (rarely) useful

- Is useless without his buildings.

- His weapons are usually revolved around buildings

- Low health

Sniper

Take a Sniper, take away his Sniper Rifle. What you get is the worst class to play on team Red. Sniper is not made for charging into battle, he is supposed to watch from the back, racking up headshots. However, without primary weapon this becomes very hard. Most of his secondary weapons are disabled too upon spawning, except the ones he wields on his back. The Cozy Camper being the best. None of Sniper's melee weapons help him do better in any way, unless you have ammo of course. Meaning that you are better off sticking to your stock Kukri. The Sniper really on thrives when he is able to grab ammo and be a safe distance away from blues.

+ One of the best classes with ammo

- Low Health

- Easy target

- Needs ammo to be effective

- melee weapon pool is bad

Hope this was worth the read. Feel free to comment below if you disagree or if I missed something.
Thanks for reading!

O.K.

Well explained. I personally use medic or heavy for most of the time (sometimes scout xD)

Hey, we can't forget Engineer's 3 hit combo with the gunslinger, pretty good for rebelling against Guards going heavy on melee only rounds x)

Good luck hitting the guard/warden 3 times before before being killed

Pretty much any class can rebel against heavies when it's melee only round. The fact that you didn't mention being a scout on that day makes me suspicious that you actually play Jailbreak.
