Hi everyone,

Seemingly sometime within the past week or so the warden vote plugin was changed. Wardens can no longer create custom votes with prompts and vote options, and they can no longer call a universal vote to the entire server. Now the only warden votes available are three options, a yes/no vote to red team or blue team, and a minigame vote which contains 13 options with some common minigames. My knowledge on this is a bit limited because there wasn't really an announcement on this or anything.

I'm suggesting that we revert the plugin to how it was previously. Wardens being able to create custom votes was a lot of fun, and had useful functionality. It's nice to be able to put a prompt to a yes or no vote in the vote itself, and it's nice to be able to create custom options so that reds can choose between two or three nearby minigames. Wardens being able to do a universal vote had some nice functionality too, sometimes I would call universal votes at the beginning of a round asking if we should do cell wars or last day warday, and there were other nice uses.

I think the reason behind the change is that custom votes allowed wardens to abuse the voting system and put in their own unrelated prompts (again I'm not certain because there was no announcement about this.) Fair enough, but getting rid of custom votes all together is an overreaction to a minor problem in my opinion. I think it's just a better idea to add a rule against vote abuse in the rules and actually punish people for doing so if admins think that vote abuse is such a problem.

Anyway, I'm eager to hear everyone's thoughts let me know if you want custom votes back or if you think their removal is a good change.

Now without the funny hastag: I agree with this suggestion, especially since this was unannounced.
I would've been open to the change if removing the custom votes was a suggestion. But I don't see any suggestions coming back regarding it's removal.

Removing this removed the one thing that made the warden fun and that was creativity. Yes, not everyone liked using this but the amount of people that did like this feature, used the feature to make the rounds more enjoyable. Obviously there were people who abused this feature too much with just random votes, but doing that was a punishable offense, so I don't see the reason why this was removed.

Bringing back the ability to create custom votes would be appreciated, but I absolutely don't think it should be entirely reverted. There were changes that are worth keeping for the command, and I see no problem why custom votes couldn't be brought back alongside keeping the additions.

contains 13 options with some common minigames
Just a bit of clarification, the plugin actually does check for which minigames a map contains based off of the entity names used by the map and makes a random vote based off of that information (source: I tested the plugin with berke).

the custom votes had alot of things to do with it, and changing it to only doing yes/no votes or only minigame votes strips away the creativity. Most people dont use it that much anyways in the first place.

current map: xmf

/wvote minigame temple_tumble star_pit boss_fight grenade_barrage

could have just asked me for a full list for every map :/

Does this include diners and theaters?

In my opinion though, offering an entire catalog of the ENTIRE maps mini game pool without any other options is a bit stupid. No body votes anything below option 5 on a map vote, and nobody uses page 2 on the warden menu

What made everyone think that giving multiple pages of options would result in people actually going "hmm I like some of these options, let me see whats on page 3 though".
No! they'll see Obby on page 1 and seagull themselves into picking it over and over again, essentially re-creating the "wardens only play X games that are close to cells" problem but with an even extra step.

Don't need it.

edit: may have been misinformed a tad here. give me a minute to figure this out.

EDIt: I was misinformed! I still believe what I believe, but there needs to be some fine tuning because it seems like there's some mini games that don't exist on given maps (rise and fall was an option on alkatraz and im pretty sure that doesn't exist)

I think wardens having the choice of both the presets and customs would be the best outcome, but if it has to be one or the other I know where my vote is going.

Yeah I agree with this, JB is all about flexibility and dynamic options. We should provide tools to enhance this, not make it finicky.

I don’t see vote abuse as a legitimate wide spread issue, but that’s only from my experience.

Was this removed just because some goobers made some silly custom votes? am I missing something? Why did we remove this in the first place, its infinitely better than what we have now.

I think the decision was just between Berke and Madact.

Custom votes have always been a complete enhancement on the jb gamemode. Wardens appreciate the ability to curate a vote to include a select few minigames to pick from.
Given the new minigame selection vote doesn't work as intended and minigames that don't exist on certain maps sometimes appear in votes, we should realistically just revert back to what we had.
Custom votes allowed for wardens to do a vote between multiple theatre participants, which is very helpful for mass theatre LRs.
The change did nothing but unnecessarily restrict the vote plugin to the point where we might as well just not have it imo.

!wvote mfk? yes yes
