Shovel Day is an LR I think should be removed, and would like to see how the community feels too.
There are Two Main Reasons, one Subjective and one Objective:
Subjective;
First and foremost I find the LR incredibly unfun and boring.
More often than not, the LR will devolve into people running away from one another, camping sources of health.
The entire LR becomes an incredibly boring pace-breaker that will often run a full ten minutes, leaving many people to wait the full duration for the few remaining people to actually fight.
It's a counter-intuitive LR. HG people are encouraged to fight to win LR or Rebel, but in Shovel Day there is no LR. There is no pressure from Reds or Blus to actually fight.
Yes you can ghost them if they are hiding, but there is no gravity behind the order of 'actively fight'.
For minutes on end people can just rocket jump and run away until they are out of ammo, make a pit-stop at armory, and rinse and repeat.
Objective;
Secondly and equally importantly, the LR is fundamentally broken.
First major bug is that the Market Garden Crit mechanic exclusively works with Soldier (at the moment this is being written). I remember a time where the Crit did work on all classes, but it's been broken for a while, defeating the purpose of the LR.
Second major bug is the overheal glitch. If a medic heals their teammate during the setup period (as most good medics do to build Uber), then the healing effect willing be continuously applied for the entire round.
This bug completely breaks the round. 65 damage shovel swings are healed incredibly quickly by the Stock Medigun's heal rate, not to mention the Quick-Fix's.
An example of this bug from my perspective is shown below, wherein a Medic on my team healed me before the round started, as they did before every other round, and it resulted in the bug.
Rather than 3 or 4 hits, it takes me 7 consecutive hits to die. Fall damage, which is an important variable during this LR, is mostly nullified by the glitch as well.
Someone with this bug can then just disengage in a fight, and come back moments later at full HP with overheal.
This is done accidentally all the time, further exacerbating how often this LR results in ten minute snooze fests.
For me personally, I never liked this LR to begin with and I know many people echo that sentiment. Given how broken the LR is from a fundamental level, I believe it is time for it to go until fixes are made.
