Hi. I've noticed a problem. While technically covered under the server rules under:
"c) General disruptive behaviour
This includes a number of things, such as: prolonging rounds without due cause; teaming with a player on the opposing team; excessive spawn killing; blocking people’s sight; willingly assisting hackers by healing them; encouraging rule-breaking or otherwise grievous acts."

Breaking vents is not against the rules for BLUs. I feel like this should be specified for BLUs, to prevent griefing. Maybe something such as:

Guards may not break vents, windows, etc. leading to armoury unless pursuing a suspected rebeller or if necessary (ex. many reds blocking armory door)

I say unless pursuing a suspected rebeller because you may need to break vents in hopjb, for example, as it may provide an alternate route to kill a rebeller that is safer for the guards.

Having this specified would reduce confusion if someone is warned against doing some 👍

I thought blues weren't allowed to break red secrets? This is new information to me, and I do think it is a good idea.

I have made a similar suggestion in the past. Although 9 times out of 10 unless it's like a freeday. Blus breaking breakables while not chasing rebellers is just being an inactive guard. Like if a blue intentionally goes out of their way to break the teleporter secret on oranger, they're just being inactive. So this is by all means current disallowed with the exception of freedays and then I don't believe it does much harm.

blues are not allowed to break red secrets for example armoury vents , cargo gambling location boxes/door etc etc.

and as krook as put above if your not hunting rebels or defending the warden and are just going around the map breaking windows/vents then your a inactive guard and can be reported for such.

while reds do have the secret teleporter on jb_orange that would mean reds would need to run away without getting caught this is easily prevented by competent blues to going out your way to break it would be a prime example of a inactive guard/warden as you would not be required to do this under a normal round.

freedays are prevented from doing secrets such as the orange teleport as it would be counted as freeday abuse this is the same as a freeday completing volcaneos round ending secret

by the writing of the current blue rights they are already blocked from breaking stuff anyways as most breakables are red secrets which blue are bannedd from breaking

This is already covered under being an inactive guard
This is the clip that sparked this suggestion (I believe)

in the clip they aren't being inactive, but they still are breaking a red secret while not hunting rebellers.

The omission is intentional. From what I remember back in the day it was against the rules for blus to break any sort of breakable including vents but also windows and other stuff and if I recall correctly I think you actually got a server ban for doing so (these were stranger times.) Understandably we got rid of the rule because it lead to new players getting banned for innocently breaking things, and all around we decided it’s not that big of a deal for Blus to break things including vents. Furthermore there are times when it’s totally justified for a BLU to break a vent, for instance if a rebeller is camped outside the armory and a BLU needs to sneak in, or if a rebeller is holed up inside the armory and a BLU wants to flank, or on HopJB to catch reds hiding inside the vent who entered through other means that blus can’t access.

Old thread changing the rule:

So the inactive guards rule as it currently stands punishes blus who break vents for no reason or to help reds rebel. This is the definition of an inactive guard. However the rule does not penalize blus who break vents to chase rebellers or for any other good reason assuming they are being an active guard.
