Hello all! In my conquest to make unwritten rules written, my next stop is Speedrunning.

So! As of right now, when a Warden says "No Speedrunning" (in the context of Deathrun), what that means is pretty vague and left to the individual.
For me when I hear it, I think two traps ahead of the majority of Reds, and this is what is widely considered speedrunning. Some people consider one trap ahead of the main group too far, others think going all the way to the end before everyone else is too far, etc etc.
My suggestion is to add a line in the rules under Section 1a: Terms/Shortcuts that is as follows;

Speedrunning in Deathrun is definied as going two traps ahead of the majority of the group. Warden must state speedrunning is KOS, otherwise Reds can take the traps at their own pace.

Now when I am a Warden I make sure to define speedrunning, so I could see this as being unneeded, however I have seen an influx of Wardens saying 'no speedrunning' as if its already defined. Per our rules, it is not. However I think defining a global term such as this fits well and makes sense. Just as no detouring/delaying is implied, I feel this cuts down on nitpicking from both Blus and Reds.

Wasn't that already a rule

Definite Yes from me.

I feel like we should allow wardens to define speedrunning themselves, but its a good idea to have a backup if they don't. I think it's still important for wardens to define it for new players even if it's listed explicitly in the rules.

Honestly that’s a perfect summarization. All for adding this to the rules.

I'm down for that being officially written. If we prefer allowing wardens the opportunity to define speedrunning themselves we could reword this as something along the lines of:

"Unless specified otherwise by the Warden; Speedrunning in Deathrun is defined as going two traps ahead of the majority of the group. Warden must state speedrunning is KOS, otherwise Reds can take the traps at their own pace."

But that's a bit convoluted.

Thought of this too and am personally in favor of this, but I did think it overcomplicates things a wee bit.
We'll see what others think.

literally zero reason to not add this, def needed 100%

it's a yes from me

I have never seen such a unanimous vote for something on here before.

This doesn't pair well with my fresh, new, up incoming "ban Deathrun" suggestion...

Personally the order of "No speedrunning" is a red flag that you're a bitch but that's I guess just me 🤷‍♂️

I don't use it because its stupid but yeah to whatever to complicate the rules more🤷‍♂️🤷🐇

I don't really think this is one of those cases. No speed running has been an unspoken rule for a long time and hasn't been defined. Personally think adding this rule would actually clear misconceptions and establish a clear description of what the order actually means.

I absolutely concur with this as it would quieten down a lot of the arguments that occur regarding it as well when people believe they were wrongly killed because their interpretation was different than the wardens.

Good enough, I don't think this order has been popular until now but It's nice seeing rules adapt to changes towards wardens..

truth nuke......
Also 100% we need speedrunning to be CLEARLY defined in the rules

A new line will be added in the terms/definitions segment of the rules:
"Speedrunning refers to moving more than two active traps ahead of the majority. It is not restricted by default."

Please give feedback on content and wording, this will be pushed on the 1st of August.

Done, forgot to screenshot the poll results but it was like 40-3 or something like that.
