Hey guys,
I thought I might do a little guide on how to sort and fix problems either with your PC or with your Garry's Mod version. This will also cover Server issues as well. So let's get started!
How to solve the grey screen on HL2RP:
When the Grey Screen is active on HL2RP, it usually means that the server has a load of members on it and the Data Base is being over-flown. The grey screen takes away all your abilities apart from walking. To solve it, all you have to do is be patient and wait for it to clear up. When it has cleared up, you are free to play again!
PS: Try not to reconnect or quit Garry's Mod, because if you re-join you could be waiting even longer!
If you are having problems joining Online Servers:
Online Servers are the heart of Garry's Mod and other source games, sometimes it can be exceedingly annoying when you cannot join them. There are many reasons that stop you from joining servers, and here is how to fix some:
1. If a Server has a lot of content, find their online content pack on the Steam Workshop and download it, give it some time to install and then restart Garry's Mod, this will then mean your client settings will recognize that it has the required content and let you join.
2. If you have downloaded the content, yet Garry's Mod online servers still fail to connect, then check if your Garry's Mod version is not in Development Mode. Development Mode gets you the beta content, yet is different to the versions that Servers run on. Check your Garry's Mod properties and if it is in Development Mode, turn it off.
3. If you are trying to connect to a server, and your internet will not let you. Try turning off your Router / Internet supplier for 20 Seconds. Turn it back on and re-try again, it should let you join now.
4. If your Garry's Mod is full of weird and wonderful addons, then you may want to start fresh if your not being able to connect to Online or Single player Servers for LUA Errors, then you need to go into your computers Garry's Mod folder (When your not in-game) and delete the whole folder. Uninstall Garry's Mod from the steam games library and then when the folders deleted, re install the game and everything should be fine!
I'm getting a blue screen of Death, help!
When you get a Blue Screen of Death it usually means that your computer is saying "No, I don't like what you just did, stop it!". Whether you were on some risky site or your PC may have an infection on it, always check with a Virus Scanner to avoid Blue Screens of Death.
They can also occur when your Computer is not fragmented, and not cleaned up. Always defrag your computer at least once a month. Don't know what Defrag is? It basically collects all your Computer storage and puts it into one place, making your Computer run faster and for efficiently - stopping BSOD's.
Defrag can be found in your computer named - defrag.exe
I keep getting pop-ups on my browser, why is this?
Pop-Ups usually indicate mal-ware on a certain computer, Pop-Ups are usually infected into a Browser when you download something un-safe from the internet or have clicked a risky add on the side of a website. Mini-Games and Advertisements on a side of a website are not okay to click.
If you are using Google Chrome, then go to your settings in the top right corner, and then to extensions, look for anything fishy in there, and remove the infected extensions from your browser using the bin Icon. Restart your browser and everything should be fine. If the problem persists, go to your Control Panel, and then click uninstall a program. Look for anything weird inside there or anything you did not install. Uninstall the weird programs and then restart your computer.
My mouse stops working occasionally for a few minutes, how can I fix:
When something disconnects from your Computer, it usually means that the drivers are out of date. Especially for the mouse, if it stops working temporarily, you just need to update your drivers. If your mouse or product is doing this, please post your type of product in the comments below.
I see loads of Missing Textures and Errors on the HL2RP Map:
Commonly caused because you are missing essential Half life 2 content as well as the base games needed to be mounted. Ensure you have Half life - 2 episode 1 & 2, also ensure you have Counter Strike: Source mounted also. If you cannot afford Half life - 2 games seek internet for content options.
My Ammo keeps disappearing from the HL2RP server, help!
When Ammunition disappears without you actually using it on the HL2RP server, it means that you have either disconnected or character switched without giving the Data Base time to save that you have used that ammo and put it into your gun. When loading ammo, always give the Data Base 15 - 30 minutes to recognize that you have loaded the ammo and save.
Another reason can be because you have died. When you die, your ammo resets, this also goes for Charcoal Filters inside the Gas Mask. If you die while your filter is screwed on (Even if your not wearing the suit) the filter will reset back to 0, meaning you will either have to craft a new one or buy one.
My Addons keep disappearing, help!
As of 21/03/2014, there has been a bug going around the Garry's Mod Workshop and in-game addon interface. If your addons are vanishing from your library, theres a good chance that you may have old and corrupted addons still installed to your machine.
To fix this problem (Or at least help the case) you just need to remove any unwanted addons you have or may not use. You also need to check your Garry's Mod addons folders for any weird looking addons that may be corrupted.
I'm doing C++ and C# Programming, why does C++ Take so long to Compile?
The difference between C++ and C# is the different Code Library's, the reason C++ takes longer to compile than C# is because there is a lot more functions and features for the computer to take in a process. The size of a project can not necessarily mean it will take longer or shorter time to compile, but in most cases it will.
C++ Is a more complex and harder programming language to master, therefore there must be more features in it for it to be harder. It only takes so long because it scans the code for any new features for it to follow.

That's right, Source SDK was outdated when Steam Pipe was introduced. To use Source SDK, you cannot use it via steam anymore, instead, you have to go into the directory of the game you want to map for, and go to its bin, inside there, will be hammer.exe.
Otherwise, you can just search your computer for Hammer.exe, but the directory for Team Fortress 2 is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\bin
Please note that this guide was originally made for a HL2RP Community but was stolen from me. Most of this guides content will be based around Garry's Mod.
