maybe clarify if its considered in a game too by default? or not? idk. this is something like 95% of the people reading this post probably know (lowball) but doesnt hurt to have smth to point to when we link rules to noobs

making a poll but tbh prob not necessary. greens can cook up a wording presumably.


to clarify just in case: i am not asking to change how we view door glitching. just have it worded as-is in the ruels

Just putting here what I put elsewhere;

I'll let my opinion stew but I'm of two minds;
Adding an additional term to 1a Terms/Shortcuts never hurts and helps the JB learning experience for those that do immediately read the rules,
BUT
The rules already specify 'going to the active area of the minigame', so its rather superfluous for those who do read the rules, and door glitching as a term is rather self explanatory and seems like a unnecessary definition. Whereas speedrunning was very much "eyes of the beholder" in terms of what it actually meant

Ive always understood this rule to be about blocking blus from moving because you can door glitch armoury without blocking pathways on many maps with bigger doors to armory.

it is a vibe to state bluntly that you dont have an opinion but are voting no for the hell of it but ill take a swing.

"door glitching" as we use it is a specific term we use in it's context only for jailbreak. there is no other game where you'd call holding a door open "door glitching." when you are entering a residence or place of business and a person holds a door open for you as a gesture of kindness you do not say "hey thanks for door glitching pal." or maybe you do. idk.

it is easy for us to extrapolate the definition of "door glitching" because we have played this shit for hundreds of hours and it is an unofficially coined term that we've come to accept because everyone else says it. i invite you to read the rules and look at what else we define. you can insert all but a couple of the acronyms in the previous sentence in place of door glitching and it'd slot in perfectly (other than they're a term which is officially recognized.) it's probably easy for us to, as an example, see a new player infer what "free killing" means because when they brain some guy for fun the guy starts pounding it out in chat in all caps. however as it is a term whose usage is unique to jailbreak it is defined in the rules so everyone's up to speed.


would you advocate for cleaning out 1a of jb rules?

Heres the draft we came up with, it'll be a new addition in the "Terms/shortcuts" section of the rules:

"Door glitching is when a prisoner gets stuck in, or blocks a door from opening/closing using their body, players that doorglitch are considered inside the respective room"

Feedback on content and wording please, you have until the end of the month.

Personally i've always thought door glitching was incredibly stupid in concept. I know we aren't suggesting a rule change but a clarification, but the whole concept of doorglitching most of the time conflicts with this rule.

The rules state :

"Prisoners planning to earn LR may be considered KOS by the warden, or guards for trying to nitpick the warden.
This means when instructed to enter a minigame, you are expected go straight to the active/playing area of that minigame."

Why the hell are we considering the fucking doorway as an active playing area of the minigame? It's so stupid to me.

What about the glitch on hop fall game (and others) where if you hug the door you wont fall and die? Would this fall under door glitching?
I mean it feels like it is considering they are exploiting unintentional collisions involving the door to cheat death, seems like its pretty cut and dry to me, but as it stands this wouldnt fall under door glitching?

Hey there kenya, I have recieved permission to handle this appeal by Crubf and have done my own looking into this situation and have come here to deliver the final say on not only the report but the appeal in this question.

I don’t disagree with your grievance but isn’t this how it always was? Reds would doorglitch crush game mlcastle and 99% of players wouldnt follow the "straight to the active area" rule but rather say no doorglitching (unless Im wrong)

Imo doorglitching is more prominent than the rule you mentioned and I think we need to cater to that, because this suggestion isn't about change its about encoding current customs.

If youre stuck and cannot move without the door reopening, youre doorglitching, if you can move about freely then you're just cheating, is that okay?

I think it's a game to game thing.
Door glitching in say Hexagon Heat on MLCastle wouldn't be in the playable area of the game (since its a crush game stand-in), while like Box Game on HopJB you are (since you could be hit by the boxes).

For me doorglitching as a term is mostly for small orders like "go to red side pool (HopJB), no door glitching", for Reds that block the door from closing. Most minigames the door tends to not be a part of the playable area as you said, and defining doorglitching mostly helps with the orders to those minigames.
