Hello, I believe Aztec no longer belongs in the jailbreak map pool. It is a bland map with nothing of proper note. It's incredibly lengthy with large sightlines yet still somehow feels tight and has very little points of interest to help you gather where you are in relation to everything else. I cannot prove this because the HLStats maps segment for jb is not accurate but I believe it can be attested that Aztec is rarely played and is frequently RTVed. The server tends to drop in population if Aztec isn't successfully RTVed due to the reasons mentioned. In fact, while trying to gather opinions I received multiple "I just don't play if the servers on aztec."

I'm hoping this thread will provide more formal feedback irt whether or not this map should remain.
 
Aztec was played today and the player count dropped from like 23 to 16 and then it rose back to 20 the instant it changed to oranger

Aztec reeks of a map that's aged poorly but the map came out October 2022.


I have no idea if this is just me, but can anyone else just not navigate this map at all? Every other map I have a good enough understanding of direction for just about any minigame. This even includes minigames I have played only a handful of times ever (lunapark, carnival, albany, etc.) But with Aztec I genuinely have absolutely no idea where I am going even after playing the map a decent amount of time and reading the map.

Just kind of dont like this map myself, voting to remove for sure.
 
Incredibly mediocre map that looks very samey everywhere with all of the green textures and props. It has just fine minigames but nothing to write home about. Nothing in particular would be lost, I feel, if it were removed and I can attest to what pretty much everyone else is saying, everyone leaves as soon as the server switches to this map. It's super boring and comes across as downright filler. I am favor of removing it
 
Remove this map, it aint even real aztec
 
I like it but it’s like a maze and the games are kinda mediocre. One thing ima miss is admin warday
 
For as many minigames as this map has, it seems we only do like a select few, usually the ones nearest to cells, because of how confusing the layout is even with the map.
 
Pros:
- Unique atmosphere
- Great for hide and seek
- Has a wheel that can help indecisive wardens choose a minigame.
- Fun Mario Circuit-inspired race course for karts.

Cons:
- Confusing layout, even with the map.
- Thanks to the confusing layout it's uncommon for wardens to do minigames beyond the first hallway outside cells.
- Cell secret hole is extremely campable by Spies who can just sit at where the hole lands and backstab any BLU that falls in, and would be outright overpowered for them if not for the ability to break open the exit to the hallway outside cells from the outside (and even then, many BLUs may not know they can break the exit from the outside).
- Teleporter that connects BLU-side Temple Run and the main area can also be too easily camped.
- Surf is too difficult for many REDs due to being a long consecutive series of slides above a lava pit that leads to instant death.
 
Simple fix > Remove all the fucking plants that are spammed across the map

There are really good minigames on this map, they're just too inconvenient for lazy blus to go and actually play. The hallways help mitigate the claustrophobic nature of the map, but some more breathing room for rebellers would be nice. I personally like the map a lot, but a redux of the geometry and minigame placement would be very nice.
Personally in favor of keeping the map for the minigames alone, but I wouldn't be too torn up about it leaving either.
