A revival attempt for the 12 Year Old Me (1 Viewer)

Greetings everyone. I write to you all today to discuss potentially reviving the VSH game mode server. From the tender age of 12 years old I began playing TF2 and shortly after stumbled upon the VSH game-mode. Next, came the Panda Community, a community with integrity, with dedication to it's community, a place where I forgot about the real world, and fell in love with what the player base had created. If you share any memories on this serverWe all met a bunch of people and shared many hours of gameplay and memories with. These were the golden days. But as time goes on, unfortunately, we log off for the last time and don't even realise it, we grow up, we grow out of things and we move on. But when something means so much to you at some point the nostalgia will hit. And it has for me, and it hit hard. I recently watched a video on YouTue about someone reviving a game called Dark Ages, it was emotional at times and it made me think back to my childhood game, to me TF2 wasn't the game, VSH was. I checked online and saw the player count had dwindled down to almost 0 players. So I'm doing this for the 13 year old version of myself that sunk hours into this server every single day until my grandma would yell at me to get off the PC. My greatest life achievement at this time was finally reaching rank #1 on the server, I remember boasting to people that didn't even know what the game was about my rank on this server haha, the memories, the good times, the goomba stomps and market gardens, they never left me. From rocket jumping across Military Area to Sniping on Dust Bowl. With the people we played with it never got old. I'll wrap this up with what I'm trying to achieve before I start to ramble on. I want to pull all the OG players out the dark, unite them with anyone who wants a taste of the glory days we used to have and successfully revive this server with a concurrent player base. Memories have been made and shared and it's about time we make some more. Hi, former VSH admin (and briefly also rank 1 on VSH) here. I'll do my best to explain the reactions you've received for your post:

1. You've created your post on a brand new forum account & explained you are a former rank 1 player without mentioning your previous username - how can we trust what you say is real? I don't mean any malice behind that but we were previously a pretty tight-knit community on VSH, so a random new account claiming so is quite strange, to me at least.

2. Your post is filled with a lot of waffle about memories & not much incentive to bring players back to VSH. I've seen revival threads like this many times for different servers & they usually end up with a few old regulars joining for a few days, then back to the same old empty server it was the week before. How do you plan to keep players engaged with VSH? Most of the regulars from VSH who are still playing TF2 regularly now just frequent the Panda FF2 server as it has a much more active player base.

3. As sad as it sounds, I don't think VSH has the demand it used to any more. Correct me if I'm wrong but since it became an official game mode with dedicated Valve servers, the charm of VSH fell off as why would people go out of their way to search for a community server to play a mode they can queue for through the main menu? FF2 however is regularly updated with new bosses & maps on Panda which keeps people engaged with the mode as well as a large variety of bosses with unique abilities to play.

Well that's just my two cents on your idea, I can't say personally I'm interested in coming back to TF2 for this, but I wish you best of luck with your endeavour.

That's a very fair take to be honest. It was early in the morning when I wrote that so there's definitely a lot of waffle in there, back when I used to play I had many different names throughout my time on the server but I'm going to log in via steam and reply here again the name will be ES: King Arthur. I do agree it will be no easy task but I do think its doable, I've messaged all the people I have on my steam friend list from back then and hoping to get some aligning responses.

Oops I thought it would have left me logged in on the other account on this tab, apparently not. If you look at my steam profile you'll see screenshots from the year as early as 2015, my steam friend code ID is: 192222396 So you can verify therse claims. This is the first time I'm attempting anything of this sort, what could you recommend I do in order to help me achieve this goal. I think making a new post on this account would be a great start.

Yess, I used to go by Kushy / Sippi I was always changing my name back then so it's hard to recall what it was. Them rank resets really threw a spanner in the works for me haha, I'll be down to run it again for old times saches whenever, just let me know!
