As the title says.
you probably already understand why I would make this and why I want to do this, every day is the same repeat episode of the same maps, this just means things will be organic.

Yes please.

Nominations completely negate the point of adding new maps ; you almost never get to see them, except in those once-in-a-blue-moon situations when all of people's "favorite" maps are out of rotation.

It's gotten to the point where, whenever I check the server, it's either on Castle Siege, Crevice, Military, Dust Showdown or some other similar map. It's way too repetitive and drives me away from playing whatsoever. This would basically solve the issue of the same 5–6 maps being played excessively, and I'm all for it.

Holy based. Didn't think you'd actually do it.

Considering that maps are added and then entirely avoided regardless of new ones being added, I agree fully with this suggestion. I'd even extend this further for bosses, but that's for another time.
If this one is too controversial, I'd argue to remove roundabout 50% of all maps and use said space for simply adding more hales.

Please make sure the poll timer isn't set less than 7 days @Autismo . I'm sure most of you get it done within a day, but it is a just in case measure for people who are not chronically online

The reason that bosses are limited has nothing to do with space. We could have all the bosses if we wanted, but we limit it because of the download time before getting into the server for new players. Maybe it's been a while for me to remember, but before you join you have to download all the bosses before playing unlike the maps. Limiting them reduces wait time.

As for this suggestion this might be declined despite yes votes being majority, but I don't know for sure. Just a pre warning.

didn't have the intention of it being 1 day, that's a mistake on my behalf.

Also about the download times, the sound contents could be reduced by 30%~ in size, I'd trade losing sound quality for more hale quantity in a heart beat because I do not want to remove a single hale currently (except chuck) and want just a bit more than what the server allows, which I don't see much logic in since there's been a lot of exercises to reduce the download requirement already and there're hale concepts that don't even need extra quips like materials/models, just a piece of music funnily enough.

to bring this to a gameplay stand point, a lot of people here don't want to remove things based on what I believe, this is just my thoughts

I'd propose that if the hale limit was just disregarded, the file size naturally bumped up by half a gigabyte or even a whole's worth, I would figure panda would have more frequenters than it does currently, yes you'd lose a few new players, yes those new players would complain the download size is large but I wager that there would be more regulars as a result of the new influx of content and variety, because if the maximum hale limit was something like 55 than the 44 it is currently, there would be more toys to play with or enjoy; people who're burnt out or bored would find themselves coming back to see what's happening perhaps.
hell I bet somebody would suggest the player limit be increased to 32 players becuase of it, not even in the realm of positive thinking, just because of the fact that the ping is good, the content would be sizeable and the options would expand if you're feeling like playing something odd.

the 44 hale limit is a practice that's old, there're people who're willing to sit down and play on foreign servers, with terrible download rates as a result just because of the contents the server has.
the owner says think about the new players, I say think about the people who're regulars, play frequently and would be happy to see more on the freak fortress 2 servers.

you might "lose" new players but you're going to get more new regulars as a result of the content increase potentially.

I don't hate new players, I just dislike that I have to do this dumb eggshell stepping dance where I need to choose between appeasing most whilst offending as little as possible who use the forums for suggestions.

I also understand this being a on ice suggestion, but I'm tired of playing the same maps over and over again, say what I will about hales but the same maps everyday? no thanks, don't want that, can just do a mega thread about removing as many needless maps as possible that nobody wants to play on if this suggestion even gets the yes.

No, nomination is good thing especially when bad maps exists more than good on panda, iam sorry but what were you smoking during this?
You need to let the community decide on maps or else server dies because of a bad map.

new maps? the server barley gets updates, if we have monthly updates id agree but rn there is alot of bad/unplayable maps more than the good ones.

The map issue was delayed severely due to Stabbin being unavailable. When I reached out to him in June, we had 11 maps removed and 10 maps added from early January to late March suggestions.

The server has a developer, but he is strictly restricted to ff2 server resources and files. Then I think we would have more reliable and faster way of getting these updates.

While this is great and all, better work on all maps, removing bad and tweaking some then we can talk about banning nomination, Maps like minecroft and halloween for ex: has spells that does not belong on ff2 and other like nebula has to be tweaked.

from my knowledge, even stuff like simple config changes must go through kevin before anything happens, given new plugins/changes.

if he simply had access to being able to update the server on the fly then things would be much easier and quicker, updates take months for what could be said as incredibly simple drag and drop jobs (this takes less than 5 minutes mind you, setting aside the dlsite stuff) and currently I don't want to play against st. heffe mindlessly pressing E then taunt killing me with no motor input.

map issue with removing nominations altogether is a problem that is solved by working from the top (garbage filler maps nobody will play most of the time if ever) to the bottom (the cream settling at the top; the maps people will play without any problems mostly), but this crevice, military area and the few others rotation business is more abhorrent.

Hale stuff should come first, the map nomination problem should come later, there's currently 10+ pending ff2 suggestions for hales and I just want changes. give lead dev perms to update the server on the fly, this is something other ff2 server don't have problems with because the leads of those servers are active participants in the community who'll regularly try to develope their servers, even those who want to give them content, not trying to blow my own horn.

By Far the main issue i have with the server, The only reason it stays alive because there is no other server to rival it but that might change one day.

Right so now that this is closed it can be addressed.

Shamrock is banned as he has done this before on voting on suggestions for gameservers that he does not play + along with shitposting.

So now @maxolotl @Expired @Zedigy if it's a mistake no worries but please do not vote on gameserver suggestions that you do not play on.

I've checked the new forum users as there was speculation but they're legit ff2 players.
If I've missed someone my bad but going through 36 forum users is not fun. One person I could not identify and could just be an old vsh player voting on an ff2 server that they don't play but gave the benefit of the doubt.

I'll now have a conversation with Kevin about this to make sure he is onboard due to it being a map nomination suggestion. If you see no change in the future, then Kevin is ok with it.
