Declined [JB] Remove galaxy until it’s better updated (1 Viewer)

Realizing now I should've told hehe troll about the problems privately, however in it's current state I do think the map has too many problems at the moment to be in our rotation, similar to instacity (before we axed that map altogether anyways). I have no doubt hehe troll will do her best to fix these problems.

At the moment it's looking like more people want this map to stay than not though, so *shrug*.

The thing with instacity was it wasnt just bugged, it was rtv fodder, galaxy (at least at the moment) isn't rtv fodder? So why bother? Yeah it has bugs, but nothing game breaking.
Also, we're trying to remove a map souly on first impressions instead of giving it a fair shot? Let it live for more than a day before trying to get it removed, it's not that hard.

Unless there's something huge I am missing, is there any reason at all to remove it besides "new thing bad because it's not hopjb?"
 
Look. I’m going to admit my fault and say that I made judgement on the map based off the playtests and not true gameplay.

I played today, alongside some friends like @koe @dachTAT and @Gale . I joined in, midway, someone gave LR. I’m like sure this seems fun. We proceed to have 8 failrounds back to back.

The map in its current state wouldn’t require minor fixes, but admittedly an overhaul on its mechanics and layout.

Due to the intentional design of not being able to shoot ppl from other planets, also means it leads to chasing rebellers a complete drag. We had koe chase a medic for 1 whole minute in a circle. The medic only died because they missed a star jump.

The map in its current state favors that of red team. A red can cause a failround bout 10-20 seconds once that pipe in cell spawns in. How is this fun?

Remove the “trickstab circle” in the sky, rework how the star jumps work, perhaps make it send them on a fixed path and not allow strafing, remove the bounce mechanic on lumas, and please make cell area closer to some minigames. It feels like it takes forever to get a red to a minigame purely because we’re having to restrict them from long jumping and trickstabbing us every 5 seconds.

And with that, I do agree removing this map now doesn’t make sense if it could be fixed by then, but a part of me feels like this map will not be fixed by the suggestion going through and for that, i’m voting for removal.
 
I am sorry but unless the map has critical issues its embarrassing to me that this community is choosing to remove a map without giving it at least a couple of weeks of playtime.

You people stomach all the BS in the world, stomach spyvspy tiny shenanigans for months, xmf being cramped af, stomach minigame buttons being broken, obbys blue sides being broken, minigames being borderline unplayable for 90% of the playerbase, it blows my mind that you people aren't willing to play on galaxy more and see what you can stomach on the map.

You find something annoying? GOOD, find counterplay, play around ammo spots, learn strafing with the stars and try to use the maps terrain to your advantage to avoid trick stabbing spies, meta isnt designed, its discovered.

There is a meta, there is always development of the gamemode and tactics that can come arise from a multiplayer social video game, why are we handicapping any legitimate progress on the gamemode, why are we not giving the map a chance, you people are not serious.

If its bugs youre worried about, Hehe is working on it and she has the support of mappers, Stabbin and Madact will work closely with her because we want this map to succeed, not to get killed off prematurely.

Message her with feedback, message her with videos message her with your thoughts in a polite way, this is what we need to do, not reactionary "this map sucks!!".

The only way this map improves is with proper playtime on panda servers with panda people.

This map needs to be resculpted in a way to not be so red-sided. You cannot counterplay game mechanics such as being unable to shoot rebellers from other planets. We had a LGKA of @koe chasing a medic in a circle for a minute, jumping from star launcher to star launcher. How would they counter this?

This is the maps MAJOR issue. The added mobility is simply too powerful for red team. Once they get into a star jump, the amount of mobility they receive is just too absurd. To point out my previous issue, being unable to shoot rebellers from other planets is one of the major issues with this. You can spot a rebelled from across the map, but if they are constantly star jumping you can't do anything about it unless they star jump into your planet.

Personally the map doesn't have too many MINIGAME bugs for me to be turned off from the map

The map needs a rework on mechanics outside of minigames. I do not see these mechanics being fixed anytime soon.

i personally think that the map should at least be given a chance and not be removed instantly again.
the majority of people are really having fun on the map and i think that is a good

now i know that there's some division about some mechanics and design choices, mainly being:
  • map is too bright - i could simply lower the lightning provided by the skybox, and/or lower the contrast between the textures a bit
  • the spinning circle above cells SUCKS - i could fix this by placing the entrance pipe out of main cell area? i dont know how that would be balanced though
  • being able to strafe after using the star launchers is too OP - i could make it so the player has less strafe control, but they can still strafe
  • long jump... opinions differ on that one - i dont know how i could fix this honestly

    now i agree that it shouldn't be forced in minigames, but there's a reason i added a 3 second cooldown. maybe i should telegraph that part better too.
    now PLEASE. admit that this video ( courtesy of @icu ) is FUN as heck to pull off!
  • making a better way to get into armory and/or add more ammo spots? (there's currently FOUR spots, ive counted) - i could have the top be a breakable instead of having to find a switch hidden away in an obscure location

i agree that the map is in a somewhat messy state as is, and im going to do my hardest to fix all of the issues you have. i can't promise ill please everyone, but ill do my best.

not to be rude it did get a chance. but anyways it isn't that bad to warrant a removal since it doesn't need a major rework. whatever bugs the people mentioned can get fixed, platforms can get added or expanded for the blues.

now blues gotta get more creative in order not to die until the update comes. what i'd do is let reds enter first to cramped areas such as deathfall. although it will be some hassle if several reds does not listen and hides but it is what it is.

the idea of the map is very good but the jb experience is not good but not bad either even if we had like 11 failrounds until i finally gave lr although it was map change.

the jump mechanics, you either like it or don't. I like it but maybe add a longer cooldown if possible, too many spies tryna shank the blues.

Warday on this map is going to be very restricted if those sniper barriers are removed. its somewhat against the rules to pick certain spots but they are in my opinion exempt because of the barrier or at least should be.

but yeah, after a week or so people are gonna get to know the map more and make better actions

its not like maps are gonna be perfect from the start, there are several products companies sell and they're not perfect.

I would normally agree with you in giving this a chance to maybe stay in the rotation for the time being with how long jb updates took previously, but now that we have somebody assigned to pump out updates for the server on a regular basis it really wouldn't be that big of a deal to remove the map temporarily so these problems can be fixed. Once these problems are fixed, the map can be re-added once its been properly fixed of its issues.

I think keeping a map with issues is a net negative for not only the map creator but the server itself. First impressions are very big when it comes to maps so keeping it in the rotation while these glaring issues are still present is going to diminish the maps likeability in its entirety and you might find people calling for its removal even after you fix the issues.

Just my two cents. Map should go back into playtesting phase and deserves the polish.

this update fixes all of the issues mentioned so far. might make a v2a if things are still not right. we're planning on doing a playtest tomorrow at 7pm CET

You've been in this community for longer than i have and you are still insufferable. Dont be a jerk and try to be constructive. Hehe is a person behind the screen and you should atleast attempt to respect that.
Of course im being called a jerk for referencing the fact that another hehe troll map is being put on a poll for removal, like what the fuck did I do? Insult the fuck out of the map and hehe troll? I could give constructive criticism but I genuinely do not want to after this unnecessary comment about me being "insufferable" and a "jerk" for making a simple joke on the internet, I genuinely do not think my comment would hurt hehe trolls feelings or would consider making me a jerk. I couldn't give two fucks about me being insufferable or not either way, but your comment was absolutely not needed, I only said "Jb Bunker all over again" because of how a poll was made on the removal of galaxy (like how it happend with bunker)

I do not know what the fuck is your problem but oh well.

Declined due the community vote, but I want to impose a 1 month cooldown for the next removal suggestion on this map: 20th of April 2025. Any suggestion created before this based on this will be automatically declined.
If the map crashes or has something significantly game breaking please let the creator know and me know. You don't need to create a thread.

I believe that, although the map has been updated, there is apparently a secret that crashes the server on the update. We are awaiting the creator to resolve this before updating the map.
If it's all ready done great, but we need to be informed about it.
