There are of course exceptions but when was the last time you played on Albany, or Alkatraz, or Instacity, shake it up a little, don't you guys ever get tired of always playing the same few maps?

And I get it, those maps are popular for a reason, they're (mostly) well-made maps with easy to understand minigames that everyone knows the minigame locations of, but some variety will only makes those maps more fun when you get to play them again rather than always playing the same few in rotation

yes, there are good maps with functioning minigames and the only reason people don't like them is because the layout is unconventional for whichever team they like playing the most. I hate jailfort because of how small it is, the map is so small you can go to any minigame within an earshot of cell area. The glaring issue is rebelling as red is gimped and wont win if it isn't a mass rebel because blu can see everywhere on the map just by getting on top any tall building.

I honestly believe another big issue is how map votes work because IMO people just press 4 to make it go away asap. I'm not too sure if this is true so correct me if im wrong but I think nominated maps appear at the top of the vote so people end up just pressing 4 because y'know its closer to WASD essentially letting a few people control the maps we play. If there was a way to have a map rotation so every map gets played it'd need some tweaking and the possible removal of a few bad egg maps so the server doesn't die at random.

I am a big advocate for having better map variety. There are many lesser played maps that are perfectly good enjoyable maps that just don't get played because hopjb and the mario maps exists and takes up about 1/3 server time per day. Like, they're fine maps but they all just seem kind of lackluster when you play every single minigame the map has to offer for the 50th time.

How wardens feel doing Speedrun for the 826th time in a row on JB_Supermario

JB isnt about the maps its about the social interactions and the diverse ways of playing, its why its so addicting, the more comfortable youre with a map, the easier the flow and better gameplay opportunities arise because of it, its less "knowing where stuff is" and more of a case with familiarity, as a result it compliments the roleplay in a fun way.

"New" maps can and will become staples, Cargo, Mayan and District are all relatively new JB maps, players do give opportunities to other ones, they just aren't as popular/appealing.

Which is okay, I think maps can serve a niche and be a valuable part of this community, stuff like Oranger or Volcano arent played as much, but I cannot imagine the rotation without them.

If it helps, we plan to actually increase the map cooldown nomination, which should address some pain points.

Dunno honestly, havent been playing for that long, so maybe the maps havent bored me yet. Heck, I have played hop_jb like 100 times and I didnt know about Burger King Massacre until last week.

Factually incorrect.

Quake was the 20th most played map in August. Trailing behind Miami, 8bit, casurina, and underjail.
Mayan was 9th.

The other 4 make up the top 4 most played maps, but Cargo was only played once a day between the days of August 18 and August 26. Nine days. Other than that it primarily only gets one/two plays per day with some exceptions where it gets more.
But many maps have those days. Bootcamp once had 3 plays in one day and Carcerem once had 4.

It's not really the maps that get boring. If you slowly get better at different games, you get a bigger variety of maps that have the same games, as well as games you haven't mastered yet, which give you opportunities to master those games. The more you play, the more maps you can enjoy. I don't know what that one map is with the drunk demo truck, but it's always entertaining to see people get run over by pure luck. The way I enjoy games is how I can interact with reds and blues. I'm still trying to use my lame spray as an excuse to get out of obby and climb, and I'm still shot on sight.

Except Mayan Jungle. No disrespect for whoever made it, but I have never been able to enjoy it.

Part of what goes into a good jailbreak map are a few things, minigame variety along with the staples, size, and events/look, rebelling. Most of the maps that are usually played fit most of these pretty well, Hop has been around since I started playing with not a lot of change and the changes that were added were welcomed. MLcastle and supermario are similar and both have been updated but relatively stay the same, these have been in rotation for a long time and people tend to favor them as the minigames aren't really that difficult. Mayan and District are played often because of the minigames and the overall experience of the map, random events and pufferfish rounds. Mayan is just a huge and newer map which is why people like it a lot. Being someone who's played JB for a while, people like what they know. Doesn't usually get boring because of the people you are playing with, whether it's regulars or new people joining in. I don't think people will grow bored of these maps because even if you do. You probably wont get bored of the people.

If I'm still alive and in the middle of a minigame I do just spam 4 as soon as the vote comes up on my screen, I'm sure there are others who do this so there's definitely some truth to this. That's why if you want to play a certain map, just be one of the first people to !nominate when you load in so your map is at the top of the list when voting (or at least I think it works like that). In my experience, the quality of the blu team is more important than what map you're playing on tbh. I'd much rather play on a "bad" map with a competent blu team, than on a "good" map with a blu team that can't survive more than 2 minutes.

Bingo!

Wonderland ran only one map for years. People regulalry played there all the time. Most people don't stay for maps. They stay for interactions between eachother.
Now rotating maps helps freshen up things, but you can run a server with just 1 map.

We have 33 at the moment. I think we will be ok with hop having 100 plays a month.
