Name restriction suggestion (1 Viewer)

Alright, hello there.

Well, this time, my suggestion is about name restrictions. On the Saxton Hale, it has suddenly become populair to have the name ''Le Captain'', without even asking me..
I personally don't have any problems with it, unless they asked me. I know I allowed 2-3 people to name it, but now there's like 6 with the name Le Captain and it's getting out of hand.

I don't know if it's possible though, to like make some kind of system, where their name will automatically change or you can get permission to kick them for the reason ''Change your name - Restricted''.

It's just my opinion, feel free to bring some feedback.

I think something like this will not be structurally possible. If you could restrict certain names and we were to disable people from using the names of the admins then that will still only partially help to push back impersonation. There are names that are still too similar to admin names (like a guy I once banned for being called Evo4Warrior and not changing it after warnings).

On the Le Captain people, you can tell the ones that you did not give permission that you do not feel comfortable with them having that in their names, but that's all you can really do. If they won't change it you can say "lame" and turn your back, but that's really it. It's not close enough to be impersonation and they're not trying to make you look bad. It's just something that caught on with people who now use it without asking you.

Well that might be annoying, but i dont think that its againt the rules, unless they are "abusing" the name:saying i am admin blab blab.They can use it, but you can tell them that they should change it.Since its not against the rules to have "Le Captain" in name.

It's not because they're impersonating me, it's just annoying everyone is starting to copy my name, and I think there should be added a rule, so that we can kick them if they're not complying when we're telling them to change their names.

And Stalker, that's what I mean. I know it's not against the rules, but what I am suggesting is, it should be a rule. E.g if me and my 4 other friends started calling us stalker456456, stalker465465, stalker654654 & stalker564564

It's a valid argument, but as stalker said, unless they're actively going around and claiming to be admin and actually impersonating you, I believe it's ok.

Several people called Noodle, or some such variation have all been asked to do admin jobs, or other such questions as people somehow think it's me, and they're all like "dfq".

It's annoying, but I don't think it's right of us to restrict how random innocent players can name themselves. If it really annoys you, sm_rename them to items of food.

Hold on now Noodl, until there is clear consensus that we should make this a rule, you cannot say that he can rename the Le Captain people already.

If they're trying to impersonate, make him look bad, or deliberately deny changing their name just for the sake of annoying him, then it can be punished with a name change, as I would do for everyone having that problem. However until we've decided that it is punishable if people change their names to something similar as someone else and that person is annoyed even though the name changers are not doing anything bad with it, it is not punishable.

In the meantime, you should just talk to the people who you don't want to have that in their name.

I believe my name is as original as it can be (the entire combination, never seen anyone with a name that looks just a little, as mine, before I took it.) Also, I'm not crying, so please stop thinking I do that because I create a simple suggestion.

How can you even be in the admin team?

Look, it's not some ''shitty meme'' like you say, I chose my nickname if I want to, the rest is not really your concerns, so please shush about that. Second, I never said anything about a game with my permission or some shit, you're taking this way too far. This is about people copying my name 24/7, I'm tired of it, and that's all. You're looking for a fight constantly, why don't you stop that and start acting professional and like an actual admin.

He never said anything about owning the name dude.What he did say is that its really annoying and he just doesnt like it.

Yeah, i know what you mean since there are some people called stalker and stuff like that.But its just that they never made ME look bad so i am ok with them having similar name.But your name is a bit different cause you are an admin which thy can take advantage of if you are not online.So some other admins would enjoy that kinda rule as well i think,but i think that you should just not pay attention as long as they dont make you seem bad.Cause last thing you need is a report on you for being a "Bad Admin" or something.

Not gonna lie, this was just entirely dickish and unnecessary. Sure, have an opinion, but there's no need to air it in such a way, at least have the common sense to think about what you're writing, and if there's any point whatsoever, and consider other people.

Not trying to be rude =/= calling someone pretentious, and raving about how shit their name is.
There's no need to be so abusive and direct. Some minor hedging would go a long way.

To be fair i never saw you being an admin, but i thought that to be a great admin you had to be mature and not a douche.
