sorry to hear man, ive had some serious losses myself over the years. couple of things, first you should always check out their profile. Remember that +rep comments mean nothing. I had an impersonator add me today who looked legit, until I checked their outpost link which lead me to the real steam account.

Second, find their steamid and search for them on backpack.tf, this will show you if they have any flags, and also link you to steamrep. When it comes to trading, you need to take a hundred steps to ensure you're doing good by your own. Never click links in steam.
