I'll keep it short and sweet, the afk plugin is horrible (kinda). I've seen a lot of people complain about how short the timer is, causing some reds to transfer to spectate mode because of an afk order, and if they try to move, they get shot down because of that.
My opinion is just to either remove it completely and go back to the status quo, or increase the timer to a respectable 2-3 minutes.

The plugin is great, especially with allowing more people to play during peak times without people holding the server hostage but the timer definitely needs to be adjusted due to some orders forcing you to be still for extended periods of time. I haven't personally seen people get moved to spectator unintentionally outside of a couple of circumstances but it wouldn't hurt to tweak it.

I talked to @Madact about it and I'm pretty sure kevin was notified about the afk timer being a little too short

Hello.

The plugin is currently in the process of being tested. We're making edits here and there to see what works.
Apologies it's taking longer than usual and if the current set up doesn't work. Really just in the field doing this to see what works with jailbreak.

Right now sorting out those that don't get assigned a team (those who join but never pick) to be included in the afk kick.
Also yes the timer is being dicussed to be lengethed or removed.

I'm going to remove the poll but do post your concerns. It may help show the urgency for this.

look i dont want to come off as "harsh" but there are like 10 jb admins + however many that have admin command access. if there is a problem with people picking teams then going afk for entire map cycles it is pretty reasonable to suggest that someone can sweep that up no?

like i get the whole "jb mode isnt fun to admin extensively" and "ppl have lives/other things to do" and "they do it for free" ive been there but if someones making a !call at like 6pm on a thursday that theres a guy or two fully afk i dont see why these afks are a persistent issue

i think this is the only reasonable option. im old enough to remember jb folks memeing and shutting out the idea of an afk timer because this is the one gamemode where you're expected to be afk frozen. not sure what changed

A simple tweak is all that is needed.
5 minutes AFK is the sweet spot for people during Warday, and won't happen accidentally unless people try to make it happen.
For kicking spectators, probably also five minutes.
If whatever someone is doing needs more then ten minutes, they can give up their spot and rejoin at a later time.

Yes, admins can kick AFKs, but reliance on that is an issue.

1; What if there is no Admin on?
You can call admin but we also get stuck in the queue when the server is full.

2; Even when an Admin is on it diverts their attention
Little hard to play the game when I'm trying to make sure the people killed at the start of a round were AFKs or rebellers.
Unless I sit out the round myself to spectate, it's almost impossible to tell.
Admins can only see so much, and with how much goes on at the beginning of rounds (initial orders, freekills, respawning said freekills, etc), AFKs become a last priority quite often.

Automation for kicking AFKs is nothing but a boon, and something wanted for years.
Just please be patient guys, everything starts somewhere.

I do love the AFK system but not the afk timer - that's mainly simple as it is, the other issue is my character model being almost invisible (it may only be for me) and it is lowkey annoying. I might have to provide proof of this or it may be a rare occasion.

At the end of the day it's just a work in progress and I hope we find a sweet spot.

if you are on the jb server for more than 5 hours get a job. /j
