I feel like its been long enough for this map being gone from the server. Aztec has tons of minigames for reds to play and many secrets to rebel with.

Aztec has tons of minigames, a lot of whom are pretty fun, but it's seriously hampered by a confusing layout that nobody can seem to memorize.

I was just about to make this suggestion (but loads better)!

Easy Yes.
Aztec was, and still is, a phenomenal map. Great design, solid learning curve, good rebeler secrets, and fantastic minigames.

I never played aztec, I feel like this is gonna be one of those cases where people get nostalgic for a map and add it back in, only to immediately regret it but not remove it for a year...
(lookin at you spyvsspy + crossroads suggestion)

This map (and some of the other ones both in rotation and not in rotation) actually requires some brain usage when playing on the map. While this isnt necessarily a flaw it is worth to point out as it generally leads to newer wardens/reds rtving the map and never touching it again, and this is likely the reason for the original removal. My hope though is that enough people are willing to try the map out, especially considering that this is most likely the point in time with the smartest playerbase at the moment.

As for me, I would like to see this map, its similar to area in that it has many fun minigames and intricacies that make for a decently enjoyable map in my opinion.

yeah sure

rare Jcal W suggestion???

Hell no

Sure the map has a lot of minigames but none of them are really great, combine that with a layout that is very confusing and you have a recipe for a very mediocre time.

My sole issue with this map is that, from what I've been told. Most of it's minigames have their code directly stolen from another map. If somebody can confirm this, I don't think it's appropriate to add this map back.

You would be surprised as to the number of minigames on many maps that have logic copy pasted from other maps. Many new mappers copy minigame logic from older maps, and there's only so many ways you can do the logic for basic games. In the case of Aztec, this was the mapper's first map so it's unsurprising. If the person it's pasted from doesn't complain then it isn't a problem

ill have you know i made jb_bunker's minigame logic entirely from scratch, tyvm!

um anyway so... re-add Aztec?

if we look at the reasons why it was removed

I have no idea if this is just me, but can anyone else just not navigate this map at all?

Nothing in particular would be lost, I feel, (...) everyone leaves as soon as the server switches to this map. It's super boring and comes across as downright filler.

(...) and the games are kinda mediocre

There are really good minigames on this map, they're just too inconvenient for lazy blus to go and actually play. The hallways help mitigate the claustrophobic nature of the map, but some more breathing room for rebellers would be nice. I personally like the map a lot, but a redux of the geometry and minigame placement would be very nice.
Personally in favor of keeping the map for the minigames alone, but I wouldn't be too torn up about it leaving either.

Nergal's pros and cons reflect my opinion very well.

Pros:
- Unique atmosphere
- Great for hide and seek
- Has a wheel that can help indecisive wardens choose a minigame.
- Fun Mario Circuit-inspired race course for karts.

Cons:
- Confusing layout, even with the map.
- Thanks to the confusing layout it's uncommon for wardens to do minigames beyond the first hallway outside cells.
- Cell secret hole is extremely campable by Spies who can just sit at where the hole lands and backstab any BLU that falls in, and would be outright overpowered for them if not for the ability to break open the exit to the hallway outside cells from the outside (and even then, many BLUs may not know they can break the exit from the outside).
- Teleporter that connects BLU-side Temple Run and the main area can also be too easily camped.
- Surf is too difficult for many REDs due to being a long consecutive series of slides above a lava pit that leads to instant death.

to be real, my vote goes to a
no

because, being the old ass reg i am, everytime i played on this map it just didn't feel like a map that feels fun to play on.
sure, it has many minigames, but let's be real here, with its sheer size and windeling tunnels, do you really think every minigame will be played in one month time? everyone will just go to that boulder chase game, surf or sweeper and that's it.
plus, it has incredibly long sightlines and it doesn't play very well in my opinion. back then, there were many failrounds, and i dont think that's going to change.

Sorry but why are we getting so hyped for a hallway map being readded?

This map design is so bland. I remember us RTVing this crap so quick every single time it came up!

Please don't grab your pitch forks and torches when I say this, I loved this map. Granted, It can be really confusing and very compact given that it is entirely indoors. My love honestly just comes from the minigames. I'm the type of player who thinks minigames are a strong determinator in the quality of a map, and I honestly thought Aztec's were really fun.

Also I don't really see the issue with having it rotation. I feel like if it gets negative reviews then It just wont be played, and if it is just RTV it. Not that simple I know, it's just generally speaking. Also, why haven't we removed Area 51 if we removed Aztec? o_O

Put some respect on area 17’s name

This map sucks balls man it has chronic “closest minigame to cells” syndrome because nobody knows where the hell ANYTHING is. The minigames are fun, but the actual map layout, design, and navigation are abysmal.

Not once in this maps existence did I see a single player even go to disco/theater/trivia let alone actually *play* them.
Nor can I recall ever actually playing most of the games on this map. Temple run, surf, obby, and the occasional stairway. Which all share the same texture!!! It’s headache inducing man and there’s absolutely nothing different about the map to show you where you actually are. Unlike pretty much every other map.

Every time I had people try to defend the map in game, they’d end up talking about how it’s a better version of Mayan and they never should’ve swapped them.
That’s not even the right map!
Probably a strawman argument, but this has happened at least 3 times.

Y’all that haven’t played on this map are going to have fun for about 3 weeks before it becomes a snooze fest as everyone either doesn’t know where anything is, or doesn’t want to make the trek to a further out minigame and just slams down another round of surf and obby and temple run
