i remember back a time when people were still grasping the concept of mastering the skill that was bhop, and regularly played maps that ranged from easy, moderate, or incredible difficulty. dr_aztecan, dr_missing, dr_mlg_bearun and dr_steamworks were some that i remember being well played and was always maps that filled the server when they were on. nowadays, 3 out of 4 of these maps are gone now. i remember when triix, who everyone knows for being incredibly influential and well-loved by the community, would always have some cool trick to show everyone for one of those main maps. now, he doesn't play as often but when he did, i've only seen him on mlg_bearun, because the map holds a lot of memories and history, and stil has so much more to be done, like doing it backwards, or when i figured out you can bhop through the small platforms with mertes and stabbin. though, fast forward to today and unfortunately the only people who agreed to removing these maps haven't been playing for longer then like 3 years, and collectively agreed on flippant short-thought comments like "the levels to hard for the players" like as if that doesn't apply to many other maps (technoir or neonoir) and for any argument claiming maps are "outdated" i think most of the maps removed are several times better looking then shit like dr_stardust. but even with subjectivity, i couldn't care less over how a map looks, and i feel like a lot of people feel the same. quantity over quality. well, lets see what relentless neglect the anti-bhop team has for this server in the future. If you want to make a suggestion, such as bringing back said maps, please state clearly which maps (sectioned off no big paragraph) and include a poll with a 'yes' and 'no' option for each map.

This is not me disagreeing with you or anything opinion wise but if you want something done you gotta do it right! If you need help setting up said thread correctly let me know via forum PM, steam or discord.

I'm also very sad Bearun was removed, somehow it slipped passed me, which is of course my fault... I'm going to miss that one for sure, it's one of my favorite maps.
 
Opinions shift. Your opinion seems to be one of the few to be stuck in the past.
well ive asked old friends to join back and there sole reason is "new maps suck" or are boring. im more then sure they're not going to join back now that most of the old maps they wanted to revisit are no longer here anymore for no other reason then to appeal to the new hate train concentrating on nit picking the flaws (if you could call them flaws) associated with bunnyhop. though, i wouldn't even say majority of players would rather these maps gone since if they still occasionally get voted for, how are they hated?? the least the team could've done was leave the maps on #22, since its never played. point is, i feel as though this server which back then was a lot more simpler is now trying to appeal to a new audience of players who'd rather play flashy colorful maps. i also feel as that if that is ALL you could have made out of that statement displays the zeitgeist that u and many other people backing up this is from. though if you could find someone from >2018 that disagrees with me, please lmk.
 
I'm surprised to see mlg_bearun removed in this way. I am one of the players who really enjoy playing the map since I am also an avid bhopper and I love to show up for it. I've had my qualms about it in the past due to the overall backlash it usually gets by the average playerbase, it is often I see players hating on the map or simply not even playing causing an influx of delays which makes it very frustrating. If there are no experienced players around, which to be fair isn't that often, the map might not be completed at all and players get frustrated with no progress. It is an extremely difficult map compared to many others but my opinion has always been that of just learning the map and being more open minded. I've seen quite a few players getting more interested in learning bhop due to seeing how some of us more experienced bhoppers traverse certain maps such as Bearun, which contributes to a steeper learning curve which in my opinion makes Deathrun all the more interesting.

I can see the reason why removing mlg_bearun would be optimal due to as I said many players not being able to play it and the delayers making the map a hell if no admin is on, even though after a certain time everyone in the map are killed by the motivator. However, I personally don't think removing the map just out of the blue without at least consulting some players about it, perhaps even making it more of a community driven conversation on the forums, is fair. Nostalgic reasons and my overall likeness for bhop and the map in general aside, the map is difficult, but as Chuckie touched on, so is technoir and steamworks and they are still in the mix and being played, with technoir being very frequent.

Bottom-line, I am not here to demand or hope mlg_bearun returns but I am very willing to at least have a discussion about it and see what other people think. I'd love to hear more DR admins' opinion on it and if possible more players as well.
 
as madact said already feel free to make another thread upon re-adding it and i'll add it back no problemo.
the votes in the thread felt like everyone was at the same opinion but since it was quite a bunch of maps i've listed them to keep track what really got removed.
 
I compiled the list of the maps that were either never played,too hard for the average player or simply badly designed.
Sure you might like some maps more than other people but i asked around the server and the majority wanted those maps removed including the mlg_bearun you still have the basic one to play on even if its easy for you its still hard for others people play deathrun with the idea where you have to avoid traps and enjoy the map not playing it like an obby with the bhop command like you guys do the perfect example is waterrun and other neonoir/technoir maps blue doesn't need to activate any traps to even win on these maps most of the time cause people barely make it to the end beside the more experienced players or bhoppers.
People want to relax not have to learn a bhop mechanic thats complicated they just here to play. But if you want some of the maps back do what Kevin posted and make a poll and we will see what will come of it.
Thats my opinion on it at least
 
love how the server got popular for the reason that it has bhop and now they remove certain maps for that, why not just make the cooldown for some maps longer so people dont have to deal with certain maps every 2 hours

i once tried to make it longer with a suggest dunno if thats a thing possible tho.
Cause i know the issue with playing the same 4 maps each hour

maps can be kept out of cycle longer thats not the problem, just wasnt suggested at all nor seemed an issue to me?
 
it was tho Kevin but someone placed it under duplicate i was asking some time ago for it
 
all in all... i wouldnt remove maps jsut cuz people vote for "remove" clearly mlg_bearun was popular otherwise it woudnt have been chosen and nominated by people, the votes on a thread are dumb anyways because some people dont even see it/ dont care... i would only find enjoyment on mlg_bearun and a few other maps because they were actually challenging not only with bhop but normal playstyle too. if it were up to me id make the cooldown to vote for certain maps longer and not straight up remove them. i dont play alot anymore anyways but i feel sad for the people that still find alot enjoyment in the gamemode. also bring back dr_aztacan :^)

I see what you mean here and to a certain degree, I agree. However, considering bhop is such an integral part to Deathrun these days considering it was added nearly 6 years ago, it is one of the driving factors as to why people prefer playing on the Panda Deathrun server.

I missed this so I wasn't aware it had already been asked around, in that case the decision to remove it is at least more fair. I still stand by my opinion though and personally think it's worth further discussion and not to be treated as an easy topic to just sort of skirt around.

As I mentioned, I don't want to demand the map to come back purely for my own satisfaction or the group of people who share the same opinion as me but to criticize the entire portion of players who use bhop on Deathrun is very naive considering it's such an integral part of the server.

Maybe not the best idea, but wouldn't it also be a viable option to just take away the option to choose the next map and just have the maps in a rotation which the server will follow?
Sure people won't like the idea of not being able to pick their favorite map, but at least you won't have to play the same 2-3 maps every day and you'll be able to have some variety.

perhaps an option but then the nominate system would serve no use dont know to what extend this would be possible wil have to ask it you can also make a suggest post if you think it would be a better play

people who complained about mlg_bearun complain about technoir, or scooby doo being too long. and i mean, if ur giving the expectation to just play a simple map with fair and clear indicated traps, but are thrown into something like an obstacle course, its unorthodox and i get why they'd get upset.

im so confident in that statement because i used to be the same and i mean, if mlg bearun and all those maps that really helped improve my interest on bhop and the server were removed, i dont think i, or many others would be playing to this day. i know bhop is more widely disliked or unexplored, but i think there is more people unhappy then happy with the removal of it, considering ive had a lot of people shocked by its disappearance, or had zero care. if people didnt want the map, they wont vote for it.

i suppose in conclusion, i dont see any upsides into removing a map other then to make the nomination list look cleaner? but its a huge trade for people who might enjoy the map. i guess maps like the old stardust deserved to get removed because of the easy exploitable record glitch and the other exploits associated with the map, but even something like bigroom wasnt worth removing because it has its charm and although probably being the most inebriated feeling weirdly designed map, there isnt anything worth removing it for, because if it doesnt want to be played, it wont be voted for. especially with competition to the super overly played enjoyed maps, and the new ones that were just added.
 
i just wish there was more conversation between the actual community. i cant help but feel theres more staff and donators on the forums then real day to day players, so when a poll like that happen with a bunch of people who are very close to one another, its easier to persuade to friends or people who respect you then someone you dont know.

Quite difficult considering that when I used to be an admin your group (aka mad bhoppers) were known for making shitposts, shitstorms and basically non-stop complaining w/o any attempts of cooperation. You could try to gather the 'actual community' to vote against the map removal post but instead you've done nothing. All you can do now is simply suggest re-adding it instead of keep complaining. The future is now old man.
