2Fort is the one server who suffers from this absolutely inane item the most, as avoiding snipers means giving up the entire bridge fight and mid control so I will start this post with telling you to jog on with your "just don't get shot" argument.

A decent sniper with the DDS is a nightmare since he is no longer countered by his own class and as such has no natural counters.
1) 2Fort is terrible for spies so this is not a reliable option.

2) Headshotting jumping soldiers and demomen is also not an issue so this point of a counter is also moot.

3) Scouts have to cross top bridge first and are basically an easy target unless the wonky hit detection screws you over in 1 of 10 cases

4) Getting them from behind with any class will also be a ton of fun as a good sniper exercises so much map pressure that his team will turtle around spawn and yard, thus making it close to impossible for enemies to get behind and if they do, they are still just one click away from failing miserably.

The DDS in its essence was probably created to give bad snipers a chance at outplaying a good sniper but what it turned out as was an item that allowed bad snipers to absolutely not be countersniped if they are not absolutely retarded and good snipers to stop dying and exercise a zone control that is simply unreal.

Usually the way most maps are constructed, it is possible to avoid said sniper or simply flank em if you have enough team presence. 2Fort gives the sniper control over the entire mid section however and he becomes impossible to avoid as rushing sewers is not very smart and countered by a single sticky trap and flanking him at top is also just inane luck.

The Cancer Shield needs to be removed to make gameplay healthier and to eliminate situations where the game becomes Turtle Fortress because one team has just absolutely lost hope because being out in the open instantly gets you killed by that 3 way sniper combo.

I should probably also add that one should backup their vote with a post @Lighty as otherwise discussion can not happen.

It would seem as if everyone is against this, which I can totally understand. Me personally thinks that the Darwin's Danger Shield is a bit unfair to other snipers, since it's basically a free razorback, only exception being the head as opposed to your back and instead of knives it's bullets. But I am a hypocrite and likes to use it at times as well (however I've stopped using it entirely in my "main" loadout, since an SMG is a more viable option).

Oh and another thing, I barely play on 2Fort to even want to consider voting.

The item is a part of the game .

İn my opinion removing it will decrease the player numbers

On Topic:
I don't see much problems with the item, in a 1v1 sniper battle a DDS sniper obviously has an advantage over a sniper that doesn't have the item, and that is how the item was designed. But when equipping the DDS you give up your second weapon slot, making you more vulnerable in different close quarters scenarios.

Also, if you equip the danger-shield yourself, your vs sniper combat will be completly fair. Or you can play without it but with the dissadvantage that you have to scope longer.

The sewers are also viable for avoiding snipers in general on 2fort.

Yes, I have many friends who play on a server just because of that one item. Respawn timers are also part of the game, yet many servers are keen on modifying them.

But when equipping the DDS you give up your second weapon slot, making you more vulnerable in different close quarters scenarios.
This does not count for any sniper who can reliably hit close quarter shots, which are also the same people who will use the DDS to abuse it.

Also, if you equip the danger-shield yourself, your vs sniper combat will be completly fair.
Thanks for providing no real solution other than promoting toxic play by countering toxic play.

This is the fucking point. 2Fort top is a huge sightroom easily overlooked by a single sniper. If he is not totally blind, he will see you scoping and just out-dance you, which you can not counter cause your uncharged headshot does not matter.

I would still like to thank both of you for making your own point as opposed to the other people who would press no silently, probably because the entire content they could come up with is what I called out in my first paragraph
"just don't get shot"

This probably counts for most of the cretins voting no. Obviously it is not as much of a problem on maps where snipers can be avoided such as Hightower.

Cue the dislikes. I am just heavily disappointed that so many people shut something down without them adding anything to the discussion.

You should probably read the full sentence thoroughly, to make sure you understand what is written.
Understanding it makes it even worse.

Probably because I tried to make a comparison to a different item the Sniper possesses, but I suppose that's irrelevant right now as it's the DDS we're discussing (and not some useless Ambassador magnet a.k.a the "Razorback").

But hey, I was just attempting to make a little joke.

The solution provided is what in my opinion would be the best, if you resfuse to equip an item because you think doing so is "toxic play" then so be it, I however don't mind using a weapon implemented in the game to attempt achieving victory.

The part that I don't understand is "basically a free razorback" Like, in what way is it free?

About voting: There shouldn't be a requirment to back up every vote with a post, but I do encourage it. I do however believe that it is an expectation that everyone voting has experience with playing on 2fort.

Lol. The FaN is in no way strong or useful, especially compared to the scattergun.

The issue with said item is that by equipping it, you automatically force an entire class to change their playstyle from aggressive to supportive sniping, which is a major disadvantage when you are going up against any skilled sniper. No item should be able to completely remove one playstyle.

Going from most polls I have seen on here, I do not expect anything from people any more.

Silent voter here, didn't bother explaining right away -

Most of the time I play 2fort I'm not sniping at all, but am always happy to see the snipers using that niche secondary instead of the razorback or piss or something that actually slows me down when fighting them as other classes.

When I do snipe, it's immensely satisfying to pop them with a couple of smg bullets across the map after the headshot.
As long as you click first, they probably won't hit you while flinching, and so you'll unscope fast enough to switch weapons before they get away.

i must say that i agree with inu, the DDS is an item that i dislike because it indeed gives a huge advantage to the sniper that has this item equipped no matter if he is an avarage sniper or a really good one.
though i still think that the sewers are (judging from my own games on 2fort) rarely guarded and can be viable way to avoid these snipers.

I am inviting you to try that against me.
