I have greatly enjoyed a jailbreak server for a while now, one that i visit regularly, and occasionally i get loud on the mic for a grand total of 7 or so seconds and I do this once every 2 or so hours. However, since about a week ago i've been hounded about it by an admin and muted every time i even get remotely loud as its considered mic spam even though i see others doing it as well. Bottom line its getting reported but only by 1 or 2 people and should that really be a good reason to mute me for 8 hours for something i do for about 7 seconds? If this is that big of an issue for those individuals would a clientside mute not suffice instead of making a player sit mute for 1/3 of a day. Bottom line, i try to respect the rules for the most part but i dont really see why all this extra punishment needs to go into something so miniscule and insignificant for a server in general.

Mic spam = Not allowed.

is it really mic spam if its not even 10 whole seconds of someone being louder than normal? especially considering theres a number of people with super blown out mics to whom nobody says anything

Okay, full story is this. I was told by 2 players you were mic spamming in a game of theatre, so I joined to hear you screaming into your mic as loud as you could. This isn't your first offense and I have even given you warnings about it. The reason the mute was 8 hours is because you have been muted for the same thing before. I don't know if it is actually you yelling or an actual mic spam but it is very loud and obnoxious. Also after the fact I muted you, you began to become very toxic and started insulting me. You are a fun person excluding the fact you tend to break rules by mic spamming. It may be funny to a few people, but a lot asked me to do something about it. That doesn't mean you should be able to break rules and get away with it. I told you if you want to appeal the ban, feel free to do so.

If you know it's against the rules to mic spam, then why do you do it every 2 hours?

A warning after you shout the first couple of seconds would be appropriate, but if you were to get caught doing this several times a day, a mute would be sufficient.

I've been too nice and given him a warning 2 other times before the first 4 hour mute, then he does it again so I increased it to 8.

"Okay, full story is this. And forgive me if im annoyed by this that im getting muted for 8 hours for something that didnt even happen for more than 10 seconds

too nice is a bit of an overstatement considering you have acted toxic towards me in the past for none other reason than you dont like the sound of my voice and you find me annoying and all im doing here is putting 2 and 2 together

I've never had an issue with you, sure we have bumped heads in the past, but like you said, it was in the past. Bottom line here, You mic spammed, you broke a rule, and you got punished for it.

Bumping heads in the past doesnt mean youve never had an issue with me. Its happened in the past and like i said im putting 2 and 2 together

Assuming I muted you from something that happened in the past is childish. You broke a rule, you are not an exception to the rules. I've already gagged someone that is one of my good friends for chat spamming, I don't care who you are, if you break a rule I will issue a punishment if needed.

This is starting to look more like you're trying to appeal so heres a few links

As for the current discussion: It really doesn't matter the length of the micspam. If you consistently do this (even if its every day for 1 split second) then overall you are genuinely being obnoxious, and worthy of a mute. Its loud, obnoxious, and annoying, so it shouldn't be on the server. Easy as that.
