Hi Panda Community

I have recently started to play on the Saxton Hale server and I really like it on there.

I saw that in the map cycle, there was my map vsh_barn_night_final and that made me a bit happy, but also remembered how clustered and dark that version was. I also saw some complains in the chat about the very same thing.

Therefore, I went back to my vmf files and continued on the map and first off made it brighter. I made a new way to the underground and added numerous nobuild triggers for engie spots. Also a new area.

Now I am here to ask if the new version could replace the old one and see if the community likes it.

I'm not sharing the bsp here as I don't a million versions to be out there. I thinking that I could send it to Kevin instead, if he likes the new version.

Here are some screenshots of the important changes.

Kind of pointless considering anyone who joins the server while the map is on will download the bsp. They could then upload it anywhere.

but you can put logos on it and brand it specific ;)

Branding/community advertisements on maps are annoying and obnoxious tbh, even when they're on that community's servers. I've seen branded community maps on other communities, so I wouldn't say it necessarily deters others from using the map. A simple, "Map created by: [name]" logo somewhere on the map is sufficient enough to accredit the creator.

Here's your branding lol

how is it annoying to see a decal on a few spots?

our dust showdown map on vsh was especially made for us and i havent seen anyone else running it so branding does kind of help to keep it low. :)

The branding I've seen has mostly been giant billboards, logos, text, ect. I haven't played on the vsh showdown map so I cannot comment on its appearance. But there's a bit of a balance that needs to be found with branding. If it's too heavy-handed, it gets to be annoying and obnoxious. If it's too subtle, it's not likely to deter others from using it.

I didn't want to share it because I have small adjustments before final compile. :p

PS: I'm still open to suggestions

You could just be one of those guys who injects a nodraw hack into the final .bsp to prevent anyone from decompiling it without errors :kappa:

I kind of like this "new" version of Barn Night, could we perhaps also add it to Freak Fortress 2 servers..?

We should use this one, it seems like it's more open ended and less likely for reds to camp in the same area.

I can't wait for that new version of the map to be added!! :D
I have Goosejumps!!! :D:

Im liking it, being one of my top 3 favourite maps, the darkness of the outside area was very annoying. Im excited to play on it and explore the new area too.

Yea, but I don't know when Kevin actually adds it to the server :/ I also excited to get it tested. I could take advantage of the waiting time and improve the map even more.

Pretty much done. I don't know what to change or what to do before people play it. Sadly, Kevin is always too busy.
