-Your name and/or nickname:
I generally play under the moniker Random Coffee Table and sometimes alias as other stuff, but that is a bit rarer and none of them really stay for too long. If you are also interested, you can call me Brendan, don't have a nickname for that.

Steam id: STEAM_1:0:443146715

- Your general online times and your timezone
My timezone is EST.
I am generally on starting around 4-9:30 on and off, but due to the way college works, if I'm not in a class or meeting I can be online for a little while starting at like 7:30-8. Also, on Fridays and Saturdays I can do from like 10/ 10:30-12ish as I'm not required to wake up at 5:30 am.

- Which of our servers do you usually play on and wish to apply for? Would you visit a broader range of servers in case of a report?
I play on NYJB the most, but I've spent time on the trade server. I would be willing to visit a broader range, but it would mostly be for general panda rules, as I'm not as fluent with server specific rules like I am with the jb rules.

- Do you have a microphone? (This is a minimum requirement for Jailbreak admins)
Yes, I do have a mic. I finally got the right settings/ headphones so that it doesn't have a ton of static/ distortion. I don't use it a ton out of respect for parents at home and I know that I can talk first and think later, so I generally prefer chat for clarity.

- Your previous experience as Admin or Moderator.
I do not have previous expedience as an Admin, but I have plenty of experience leading groups/ helping them run with a variety of age ranges and settings (Boy Scouts, music ta, community events), so I know that I can handle the difficulties that can arise.

- Do you have experience with administrating with SourceMod?
I don't have experience with SourceMod, though from what I can tell it looks fairly easy to learn.

- Why should we choose you to be part of our team?
I have been playing NYJB for a couple years now and know the rules like the back of my hand. I believe that I have the ability to moderate the server in a fair way, not giving anyone favoritism because I know them while also not being heavy handed in punishments too quickly. I've seen both happen and I want the server to be run fairly for everyone, and I know that I can avoid those potential pitfalls so that a chaotic server like jb can run smoothly and enjoyably without being hampered by over-zealous moderation. Most importantly, I want this server to succeed and do well. I know that not everything I've said has supported that claim, but this server and community is some of the most fun I have in tf2 and I have a lot of friends on it, and I want panda JB to enable other people to have that same experience as well.

- Finally, please briefly explain how you would do your job, e.g. a general overview of your policies and punishments.
Generally, I think the best way for an admin to act is in the background as a general player until action needs to be taken as that enables the server to run its course. For punishments, I plan to follow the general panda format of 6-tiers, with exceptions to the more egregious (racism, intentional mfk, threats of violence, and hacking).

Exploiting, freekill, latespawn, etc.
1 - 360 min ban
2 - 720 min ban
3 - 1440 min ban
4 - 10080 min ban
5 - 43800 min ban
6 - perma ban

exceptions:
Hacking:
permaban

1 - 360 min mute/gag
2 - 720 min mute/gag
3 - 1440 min mute/gag
4 - 10080 min mute/gag
5 - 43800 min mute/gag
6 - perma mute/gag

exceptions:
Threat of violence/ ddos attack:
perm ban

LR Denial, freekill, teamkill, etc
1 - 120 min guard ban
2 - 240 min guard ban
3 - 480 min guard ban
4 - 720 min guard ban
6 - perm guard ban

exceptions:
Mass Freekill (unintentional):
1 - 480 min Team ban
2 - perm guard ban

Mass Freekill (intentional)
1- perm guard ban

The discrepancy between these two is due to intention. I would be more forgiving of a soldier accidentally shooting rocket into a group of reds than someone telling all reds to go into one spot and then blowing them all up. I am willing to change this, but sometimes people make mistakes and I don't think they should get the same immediate punishment as those doing it intentionally. I am willing to revise this, but this is my general perspective on mfk.

Bans and Comms (5, only 2 are recent. One was me taking a meme too far on mic (February) and the other was about the now fixed static mic)

Even tho I cant realy give a vote here, I´ll just say my experience with RCT. I love to see him (except on district :v ) since hes a friendly fella and also (as much as I can tell) enforces rules and make people aware of what they are doing wrong. Good Luck RCT!! <3 :nekoheart:

Cant give a vote but tho i alredy experience an aplication. For a JB one i do say its a very complete and explanatory Application.

Trust me if i could i could i wold support him

Never see him play on JB but something about that application makes me support him
(Pardon my errors)

Before anyone else gonna comment some supportive comment on this and future application, please dont. You can give support to the applicant in game or in DMs. If everyone were to make a supportive comment on apps, it would be chaotic.

Please proceed.

Hello Brendan and thank you for applying! First off, the application isn't good at all, it does feel like you tried putting in effort but you're giving too much unnecessary info / pointless things to add. Not sure how it'd impact your way of handling forum stuff like reports, appeals etc but it isn't looking too good. Punishments are looking fine though! I won't vote just yet but I do have a hard time picturing myself giving this a +1

I can absolutely see why you'd think that and I probably did go too in depth when it wasn't necessary; I do know the value of brevity and have that capability. The main reason for the extra info was twofold: to provide some context (namely mic, experience, and the recent comms) and to prove that comments that you highlighted on my last application do not currently reflect my feelings towards JB nor Panda as a whole, but I beat around the bush too much instead of saying that outright in a sentence.

I will absolutely keep this feedback in mind, thank you for your prompt response.

I'm putting this application on hold since you are discord banned. There is no point in giving any feedback if that doesn't get resolved. You already created an appeal so if it gets fixed, we'll continue on.

Pretty much sorted the appeal out thanks to Kevin's swift response to handle that appeal, so I'll reopen the application up.

Wanted to say, I do like this applicant despite their past. Their responses are incredibly mature and they've handled their mishaps like a champ.
But since I'm not that active on jailbreak, I don't know if your doing well on the servers. So I won't vote as I'd be stepping on the jailbreak team's toes by having lack of insight ?

So good luck! I'll revisit this thread once all feedback is given.

Hello RCT really nice seeing you wanna apply again. I'm just going to say this now, I have not been active that much since I am taking a break from tf2 so I have no clue how you act so with that being said, Alright lets cut to the chase.

Let's start with your times. The times are overall good still a bit sloppy since it looked like it was rushed but still overall good.

Your comms aren't the best but I shouldn't be talking as I also have 5 comms blocks on me and look where I am now. For the static mic issue, I've heard yours in-game multiple times and it looks like the issue is resolved BUT if I do recall correctly when people were telling you to be off-mic because it was static you told them to stop talking as they always had something bad to say to you. I don't know if people would consider this toxic but I kinda do, but the issue has been resolved with your microphone

As for in-game. You do tend to make quite a lot of mistakes. Like freekills, favoring, and such but when I brought it up to you on what you did wrong you took it like a champ. I've asked if I could show this here on the forums and well the image speaks for itself how mature you are and how you handle things. ohyes.png Some context behind this was Coffee was warden and told the reds that the first 3 that finish climb live while the rest die. 4 people cheated and then said if you cheated go back to the start. And when I pointed it out to him he understood it and really surprised me. That it on that topic.

I also wanted to point your chatlog. Very clean enforcing rules some minor things imo but that should be fine really. You do do mistakes quite often but nothing mentoring can't fix.

+1

Hey gold, thanks for the response. I do agree on the mic issue and I was absolutely toxic about that. My annoyance at not getting the mic to work spilled out towards the other players. It is a symptom of the larger problem; that I need a tighter leash on mic. I have been working to fix this by using mic more sparingly and using chat where I can, as I know I am more cognizant of my typing than speaking. I'm working on solving that issue right now, but it is still a work in progress.

As far as mistakes go, I know I'm not perfect. I have been trying to play more blue after getting my mic working to start ironing out the kinks. I know I'm not perfect in that area as I don't have much experience on blue. I'm absolutely willing to learn as fast as I can by paying attention and making sure that I don't make the same mistake twice.

From what I can tell, you seem to not care all to much about enforcing the rules. But, it's been a bit since I've actually paid attention to you in game, and you seemed alright when we played MVM. Again, can't vote, but keep this in mind: As an admin, you'll have to step up a lot more than you have. Btw, you should give warning if you weren't going to, that way you actually help the community rather than hurting it.

Please read what PNN wrote above. Let the admins handle the application. Give feedback, postive or not, privately if you are not an admin.

Hows it going my doodle.

Pros
  • some rule enforcing in the chat
  • punishments look pretty good
  • As stated before instead of being a crybaby you "took the punishments like a champ" and you've treated every piece of criticism well here.

Cons
  • Application rough at parts
  • some annoying binds that while not spammed I could do without

Overall I've heard mixed things about you from the players its either they think you'd be great or that your "completely useless with the rules sometimes" I will stay neutral for now, if you can continue to learn and improve from your past mistakes consider this a +1.

Currently, there's a few reasons I can't give you my trust yet sadly. Your gags, they're a bit too recent. From the looks of it, your latest communication block was actually supposed to be a month. Something interesting I found is this right here, may be a bit old but it does concern me that you didn't get muted for this and I do believe people change, but I think it's all too soon to be applying this time. If things don't work out then try your luck in the future. -1

I share the same concerns as ciri. The mutes by gold and evidence by ciri shows that you have a quick temper and you sometimes will let that get the better of you. That's a problem definitely here, even if it's months old it shows you might not be fitted at all for this. The saving grace however is the great responses you've shown here and in private when making mistakes, It shows at least you know when you mess up and that you want to try getting better.

I'm willing however to roll the dice and go +1 here. I think the application looks great and overall I see some promise, and the extra bit was necessary considering the circumstances. Current issues I think are manageable in the trial phase should you be accepted. Continue to work on your overall behavior to improve the chances of being accepted.

Hey RCT, I’ll start of by saying thanks for applying. When I first met you, I didn’t think you’d become admin anytime soon, but you have proven over the last couple weeks that you can be level headed and you know the rules very well. Warning in chat is always great but I don’t think I’ve noticed you rule enforcing in VC. My biggest worry for you is from what I’ve noticed in the past, you tend to jump to conclusions and call out freekill. I’m going to remain neutral for this app.

I'll just address a couple things very quickly. Bambi and Ciri, I can absolutely understand hesitation as I have been toxic and sometimes quick to anger in the past. I have really been working on cleaning that up these past couple months, both irl and in game, and I am confident I will continue to improve. It is why I don't use voice as much and prefer chat, but I am willing to enforce rules via voice as that is a necessary part of being an admin.

To clarify to Sin, I know I jokingly call freekill towards me if I'm obviously not following orders, but that can absolutely be interpreted the wrong way and be confusing, especially if I become an admin. I had not viewed it in that light before and due to that will stop to prevent confusion. If I'm unsure about my death or another, I will usually try ask why before jumping towards conclusions. I will admit that I'm not always perfect with that, but I try to make decisions based on the rules and information instead of jumping to conclusions, especially lately when I realized that I wanted to apply again. Whether or not I get accepted, I plan to keep this view on rules and use data to make decisions instead of trying to fit it into preconceived notions.
