Name:
toilet
on Steam (I don't know why if I'm honest). My real name's Ollie.

Age:
17.

Steam32 ID:
155082237

Online Times:
Typically I'll be online on weekdays from 18:00 to 21:00 GMT or BST depending on the time of the year (UK timezones are strange). On weekends I'm near my computer most the day, doing work or messing around with code.

Microphone:
I have a microphone, but don't use it much.

Previous experience in Admin/Mod:
None yet, but after nearly 2,000 hours in this game and a lot of time spent on Panda servers I know the drill very well.

What Panda Community servers do you usually play on?
I've spent more time than is healthy on the two Hightower Servers. I'd obviously be open to visit the majority of servers if they had a problem, however.

Why should we choose you?
I'm a mature, genuinely friendly, fairly experienced and well-known player who keeps it cool even with the most annoying of people. Seeing as I'm on these two servers for an inhuman amount of time most days and there is an ever-increasing need for more active admins on them I thought I'd apply because I could be useful. :)

What will you do as Admin?:
I will obviously provide a warning to any rule-breakers first, before giving sufficient punishment depending on the offence if they don't comply with my requests. As an example, if someone were to be, say, spamming the chat/voice, I would give a warning before gagging/muting them for varying times depending on whether they are repeat offenders or not. This obviously has exceptions, such as people using external programs to cheat in any way, where I think an unconditional and immediate ban would be necessary in most cases.

Please send me a message or just reply here if you need any more questions answered.
Thanks for your time :)

While I'm 99% sure that the Steam ID is in Steam32 ID format, I've seen it sent in this format too, so here it is:
STEAM_0:1:77541118

Edit: steamid.xyz lied to me

Hey toilet! Glad to see you've applied.

Firstly, I'd like to say that with 0% activity on #10, as fanthom said, and with only 5 hours of connection time, I'd rather you only apply for #06 (which will be implied henceforth).

gameME profile / Chat / Sessions

Bans / Communication blocks

Sessions are good, though they could be slightly better.

Chat is okay-ish, to say the least. It needs to be fixed - less lenny faces & less insulting is what I'm mainly aiming at. I also believe you remember I warned you a few times for your lenny faces - I'd strongly advise you not to use them anymore.

Furthermore, a piece of advice: have a look at some archived or on-going admin applications to give you an idea of how players would punish rule-breakers, i.e. take note of their punishment lenghts. I want to see yours - that is the only thing, as well as the most crucial part missing in this application, in my opinion.

Overall, my vote is NEUTRAL. Though, I can't stop there. I've known toilet for quite a while now and I'm positive he can improve. Likewise, he gets along with mostly everyone and is generally a nice guy to talk to. Moreover, toilet regularly uses the !call function, and messages me on steam every time there is a hacker or any type of rule breaker.

I will see if you start fixing your chat and being active daily (ideally, of course) - both on the forums AND on #06. If your chat becomes better and if your activity is fixed (again, ideally), I do not mind changing my vote to a +1. Good luck.

Here's what I was thinking punishment-wise:

•I've already given my opinion on cheaters, which I hope is understandable.
•Spam wise, I think punishments should probably be dealt exponentially (excuse the fancy words, I couldn't think of any other way to describe it and I'm a mathematician by heart.) This would mean gag/mute times would be multiplied by some constant each time the player spammed on chat/voice, starting with 30 minutes and multiplying by 2 or 3 each time up to a point where the punishment becomes permanent. (Probably 4 sequential offences). As with all of these, they would be issued after considerable warning.
•I think overly offensive/racist language should be treated with 2 warnings followed by a 30 minute gag/mute and then a ban if the matters persist.
•Finally, while non-english speakers aren't a huge problem, they can get annoying. I believe that it should be treated as spam if warnings are not heeded.

Thank you @Noot Noot for the advice, I'll delete my Lenny and stay active around here ;)

Also, as for the #10 shenanigans, I thought the admin position was for both servers or none, just me being stupid . I'll happily apply for just #06.

Thank you for the reply.

Generally speaking, lenghtening your punishments exponentially is not something we would normally do, but that does not imply it's wrong.

Furthermore, 30 minute bans are way too lenient, in my opinion. The user is (technically) not harmed in any way, and in 95% of the cases, the same player will go back to doing the same thing, and you're just making more work for yourself. Personally, I believe the first punishment a player recieves should not be lower than 2 hours. Of course, it varies from situation from situation (severity, awareness of issued warnings, general behaviour etc.), but, again, in my estimation, you should not go under 2 hours.

With that being said, I'd like to hear if you have decided to change your penalty lenghts.

Lastly, it does seem like you are willing to cooperate. Keep up the good work.

Yep, as I've said those punishment times were very rough estimates, subject to considerable change once I was more practiced. I'll obviously trust you on the starting durations seeing as you've been at the helm for a while and 2 hours does sound more realistic. I think I'll stick by the exponential punishments for repeat offenders, however, as it allows for punishment times to quickly scale up before having to ban them, which I presumed would be the desired effect. Like with the times, the multiplier would also be subject to change once I've started the job, but I think after mulling it over a multiplier of 4 or 5 would probably be more suitable.

TL;DR: Changed my starting mute/gag duration to 2 hours and I'm sticking with the exponential method, just increasing the multiplier.

Thanks again @Noot Noot ;)

Just for clarification purposes, for anything spam-related, gags/mutes would be conducted like this:
2 hours -> 10 hours -> 50 hours -> Ban.
Anyone can give their opinions on this, I'll appreciate it massively ;)
Edit: obviously there would be contextual exceptions but this would be a rule-of-thumb.

Spam/offensive language/foreign language or anything chat or microphone related does not require a ban. Only a gag or a mute.

Bans are suited for hackers, inappropriate sprays, etc.

Have a look at the SourceBans page to get a better understanding of what offense follows what punishment. EDIT: Likewise, you'll be able to notice how the punishment lenghts stack.

Ok, noted.
In which case, replace any times I said "ban" when talking about spam stuff with "permanent gag/mute".
On looking at the SourceBans database I noticed that it's better to give around 5-6 temporary punishments for spam before making it permanent. I also noticed that punishment times are very variable from person to person, but in the case where they do scale over time, they seem to actually roughly follow my model.

All in all, the process now looks like this:

2 hrs -> 10hrs -> 50 hrs -> 1 week -> 1 month -> Permanent.

Once again, feedback is always appreciated.

Also a quick PSA that I'll be away from my PC from Friday until Monday because I'm going to another country, so I'll try to keep active on here, but probably won't be on TF2.

The applicant has listened to the suggestions. His chat now is free of lennies and insults, and his sessions have become better (excluding September 15-17, when he was on a trip - I'm positive he would have played on #06 had there not been the need to travel).

He has also continued reporting rule-breakers through steam chat. small edit He is willing to learn, hence why I am changing my vote to +1.

Good luck.

Alright, so since Space haven't show up and he's been inactive for 5 weeks on the forums and on the server, it's time put this under review.
